The injuries is from tumbling around in the avalanche, a tent (if nailed down) will just be flattened.

How would one tumble in the avalanche while in the tent? Is the thought that the group heard the avalanche, came out, and got caught in it?

I should read the paper more carefully. I'm going off what I remember from Dead Mountain by Eichar.

Wouldn't the tent have been damaged had the avalanche actually caused such severe bodily injuries? From what I remember, the tent only had a knife cut in it, done from the inside.
