Best thing about this is that it is available for most of the major platforms with an easy to use GUI. iOS app is excellent.

Some important bugs to beware:

On Windows having the LocalSend app running with the Window visible (after a receive?) prevents the system from sleeping. On Linux, it does the same even if the window isn’t showing. On Linux, having the LocalSend window visible and idle consumes an insane amount of cpu with the desktop window manager constantly refreshing damages. On Windows, the app (with the “startup minimized” option checked) if configured to launch at startup will often show the window anyway (not that you want it running in the background given the sleep issues).

Yes. Love this cross platform, non proprietary software for local file sharing.

I put a mask on, and pay in cash at a public phone. How would you trace me?

So techically you agree that it’s no different from using proton?

Coming back to the question, the roads you travel, the vehicle you commute are all under constant surveillance, FYI.

Proton very clearly states they will happily comply with law enforcement requests, IF it comes from the country they operate in.

“If it comes from the country that they operate in. “

How’s that for privacy?

Bad people can phone in anonymous threats. or send postal mail. This is not a new problem, no need to drop privacy rights.

You can always trace the numbers and postal mails in this age.

The authorities still have a choice in how they respond to it.

The problem is still not supported by proton and team.

There was a bomb threat email sent by one of the proton mail users to South Indian state’s TN, some weeks ago. There was a big turmoil in 4-5 different schools in the city. Until the time they realised it to be a fake threat it was a nightmare. Some of my relatives were directly affected. What’s the privacy crap we talk here?

Seconded. All books by Gabriel Weinberg.

Some books you read to reflect upon or be better informed. His books instead, are likely to change the way you conduct your business, or validate correct behaviors you adopted instinctively.

Highly appreciated book. But the author is Gerald Weinberg.

"Last name" of any person across the world has something to do with. The argument to identify two ppl with same firstname stands the same for both first and last names combined. Countries like India, carry the caste names as the last names. Abolishing that alone is solving only one part of the problem. The right fix is to make these down-trodden to tread back what they lost over decades (even centuries). These lawsuits to punish an isolated event will stop nothing.
