Curious to know which of the email providers offer bottom posting?

Genuinely asking after using Gmail and enterprise Outlook for more than 2 decades.

I don't understand the logic. I mean if you hate Google, or you specifically want to avoid Google having your data sure, but whichever email provider you choose will have at some point access to your plaintext email and they may choose to store it. There's no such thing as real end-to-end encrypted email unless the sender actively does so or you run the server yourself (and be online to do the TLS handshake when someone connects to your domain's MX address).

Another concern about anything social is that there are at least two sides in a conversation and whoever leaks the data to a third party will compromise privacy of all so it is really hard to prevent your email from getting to Gmail servers one way or another.

Can't agree more! I've analyzed my urges to migrate in the past decade or so and I've ended up staying with GMail for exactly these reasons.

Conversion from ASCII is nice. How do we get the original D2 source if there's a need to update the diagram?!

On the one hand, it's good that we're seeing a lot of exploration in this space.

On the other, the trend seems to be everyone developing a million disparate tools that largely replicate the same functionality with the primary variation being greater-or-lesser lock-in to a particular set of services.

This is about the third tool this week I've taken a quick look at and thought "I don't see what this offers me that I don't already have with Roo, except only using Claude."

We're going to have to hit a collapse and consolidation cycle eventually, here. There's absolutely room for multiple options to thrive, but most of what I've seen lately has been "reimplement more or less the same thing in a slightly different wrapper."

May I know what the other 2 tools are?

> Alignment with Microsoft Goals

> We are being thoughtful about resourcing. This effort is happening alongside other critical responsibilities like security, platform stability, and support for existing products. Our current focus is on foundational work that unlocks value for contributors and increase transparency. We are aligning this work with Microsoft’s broader business priorities to ensure long-term support and impact.

I don't sense any benevolence in their words. They are just pulling off their resources and dumping the framework on the public, hoping passionate losers will contribute.

I wish I could live in a world of fast.

C++ with no forward decls, no clang to give data about why the compile time is taking so long. 20 minute compiles. Only git tool I like (git-cola) is written in Python and slows to a crawl. gitk takes a good minute just to start up. Only environments are MSYS which is slow due to Windows, and WSL which isn't slow but can't do DPI scaling so I squint at everything.

I might get down voted for saying this on HN, but I'll still say it.

As C++ devs we used to complain a lot about it's compilation speed. Now after moving to Rust, sometimes we wish we could just go back to C++ due to Rust's terrible compilation speeds! :-)

Thanks. I'm happy with Iosevka. Wonder why it doesn't get the popularity it deserves.

It is about investors vs users. Microsoft chose you know who.
