I have an iPhone with a lightning connector. I use a wireless charger at home and in my car, and AirPods pros. I used to charge with a cable, but I wash my phone regularly under the faucet and then the phone does not like to charge or corrodes the cheap cables if there is liquid remaining in there.

I exclusively wireless charge now, and happily continue keeping my phone clean.

Want a mac with just one USB C port and the butterfly keyboard that would fail after a year?

No, “an Apple Silicon version of this”.

Lol I knew I would get this kind of answer and downvotes.

You still have to make an account on a totally unrelated website. It's the shittiest experience one can think of.

But your excuse is "Hey actually you can also setup the whole application yourself before making the account to post a blog comment on an unrelated website, so that's actually super awesome!".

Absolutely ridiculous, and if any company you didn't like were to do something similar you would screech.

Is there a same thing for macs? The native logitech solution requires me to install a .pkg and I'm not really a fan of it to say the least. I'd rather install something from homebrew.

I'd love to see this ported to Mac.

Just discovered the bloody AI prompt builder enabled by default in my mouse driver today. After patiently declining input recording permission for months.

Managed to get rid of the most of bloatware using their corporate "Offline" version which supposedly doesn't phone home and doesn't ask for extra permissions. YMMV.

I use BetterMouse with my MX Anywhere 3S and it does everything I need it to. It’s a few dollars but it has a trial and is available via Homebrew.

Podcasts can illustrate some dynamics. The dominant format is two people. Three is rare. Four seems to work, but in a more shallow way. Five? Never heard one.

Is it worth counting/considering the listener? Multiple people listening also leads to interesting things like pausing the podcast for a side conversation.

Incidentally, half my regularly listened to podcasts have three hosts or two plus guest.

From a beginners perspective, a good mouse is crucial for working in these kind of tools. It's touched on at the start of the donut tutorial (linked elsewhere) but I just wanted to re-iterate it here.

Now, I haven't done serious 3d work for many years, and recently tried getting into Blender again on my Mac laptop with a Magic mouse. It was a horrible experience.

Can anyone recommend a good mouse you can buy nowadays (so not something like the original SGI workstation mouse that had 3 buttons and no scroll wheel, unless those are still readily available...I loved them!) that works well in these programs. I remember the key differentiator being the scroll wheel which also acts as the middle button. Getting this wrong can make for a frustrating experience as it will zoom the view while trying to middle click.

I really like the MX Anywhere 3S (with BetterMouse for macOS instead of Logi Options+ to configure gestures like middle click move to pan). It’s closer to a Magic Mouse in functionality/simplicity but more ergonomic and USB-C on the front.

akerr commented on Apple Shares Full iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Repair Manuals   macrumors.com/2024/09/20/... · Posted by u/stalfosknight

> Compared to prior iPhone models, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are easier to repair. Apple is using an electric battery removal process, and the steps for accessing a battery to replace it are outlined in a separate support document <https://support.apple.com/en-us/120642>. Per Apple's instructions, a 9-volt battery and 9-volt battery clips can be applied to the iPhone 16 battery to remove the adhesive that holds it in place.

"Easier" is relative I guess:

Here’s every tool you’ll need to replace the iPhone 16’s battery https://9to5mac.com/2024/09/20/heres-every-tool-youll-need-t...

* 9-volt battery

* 9-volt battery clips (923-10726)

* Battery press (923-02657)

* Ethanol wipes or isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipes

* Nylon probe (black stick) (922-5065) or suction cup

* Safety glasses with side shields

* Sand

* Sand container

By contrast, the Treo 650 battery replacement took a few seconds and zero tools.

No one is stopping you from using a Treo 650.
