"We do not care about your academic degrees [...]"

Unfortunately embassies do care about these. Getting a work permit to immigrate to another country without an university degree certainly reduces the chances to get the embassy's approval, even in countries like Germany where there is some flexibility — if you have a Senior profile — a degree certainly accelerates the process.

In fact, in this industry, there is less people caring about an university degree than people who care about it, exceptions being those in the research field. But HR departments always filter out good candidates because they lack the degree, most HR employees are not trained correctly and/or know how difficult it is to hire a foreigner without a formal education background so they immediately throw good resumes to the trash can because of that.

I don't know why are you getting angry over them. They are not government. Also this point perfectly apply for people from EU.

If I remember correctly, it has been reported several times in the past and Chrome doesn't care about it at all.

Love mosh, but having no scrollback is a pain. I can hack a solution by using screen on top of mosh. They say that version 1.3 will add support for scrollback.

I earlier tried running screen on top of mosh. But it did't worked for me. Can you tell how you exactly did it?

And add minimize/maximize buttons and applications ("start") button. I have no idea why Gnome has to experiment, they have lost so many users unnecessarily. At least it's configurable to something sane. They are far from catering to the same feature-averse audience of iPad so there's no use in trying to (poorly) emulate its minimalist design language.

That's why Linux Mint wins. It look completely like MS Windows. Taskbar, Icons, Keyboard Shortcuts,...everything is similar to MS Windows. As a Windows user, I find it most easier to use and that's why they are winning.

Every once in a while, I get difference error in /etc/issue*. I really hate all of these. I use Mint only because I like its GUI interface. I really cannot stand Ubuntu desktop for a moment

As a former recruiter, I can't second this enough. Applying online is like shouting into a black hole. Pinging a real person with sincere, earnest content and talking to them like they're a person is so much better.

I wish this was true everywhere. I've tried this few times on the companies I was very excited about, but it never worked so far for me. Most of the time, they don't even care to reply. I don't like faking interest, so I just drop my applications into the black hole these days.
