Right now, a little flaky: Issues with controls and texture loading in Linux have been reported, but now that i've launched I'm gonna take a deeper look, hopefully next week playing in steam deck will be a decent experience.

Just purchased - I don't have any time to play this week but I'm on a train for 6 hours next week and have been looking for a game for my Steam Deck.

Something I was pondering the other day, is that similarly to how dashcams are becoming a more everyday addition to cars for self-protection, so in time the personal equivalent of a dashcam might be necessary for in-person interactions. (Basically, the personal equivalent of the bodycams that police are meant to use.)

Such smart glasses may actually lead us there: just record everything I do and say in a week, and I'll tell you it's safe to delete it if I've not had any concerning interactions in that time period.

I don't like that society might be heading this way, but I'd not bet money against it.

I seem to remember Gates talked about how we would soon have cheap enough storage that a person could record every conversation they ever have for this reason. This was in his '95 book 'The Road Ahead' or maybe I'm remembering it wrong

It told me my ~10 year old js project was 50% AI generated. Yeah, this is more or less the same as "AI text detector" stuff that won't work reliably (but people who don't understand LLMs will still use it to blame others)

Maybe unrelated, but do you have trouble completing CAPTCHAs?

This is awesome, but it'd be great if you allowed for apps that we wanted to use more, not less.

I installed it and added my language learning app hoping to be able to use the API to report if I've studied enough. Unfortunately, it assumed I was trying to use this app less and immediately locked it.

I thought the time limit in Australia expired recently (as in: within the last two to three years).

As of July 25, 2022, the Australian blood donation rules that previously barred individuals who lived in the UK for more than six months between 1980 and 1996 from donating blood have been lifted.

Maybe worth double checking at your local blood donor centre. There always seems to be a shortage of blood.

It recently expired in the US as well

I should do this. Did you have to code something for it or will Twilio just do this if you set some settings?
TrueGeek · 7 months ago
You can set it up in the Twilio studio without having to write code. I'm not 100% positive, but I seem to remember there was a template for it and I just had to fill in the details

Post author here. There shouldn't be one on the website (and I can't see one?), but the Google Play developer profile is unfortunate: thanks for pointing it out.

I got a Twilio number to give to Google for my Play store listing. It simply takes a message and then emails it to me.

Tangentially related question: I recently got into 99PI and love it, listen to every episode that comes put now. Any other podcast recommendations?

No they are not popular in the Netherlands. Easily 90% of cargo bikes are two wheeled, because tricycles are really only for novice/disabled cyclists. Going above say 20km/h is just plain dangerous with a tricycle, definitely not stable at higher speeds in even the most gentle curve
TrueGeek · 7 months ago
I'm in Limburg and I'd say three wheeled cargo bikes are closer to 30 to 40% of the market

> There's a reason we see so few [tricycles] on the roads, amidst an explosion of various human-powered modes of transport.

Perhaps in the US and western Europe, but tricycle tuk-tuks and cycle rickshaws are extremely common in other parts of the world.

TrueGeek · 7 months ago
In The Netherlands 3 wheel bikes are fairly common to haul kids and dogs.

I can easily get mine on two wheels if I take a sharp, fast, turn - but after you do it once you learn the limits and it's a very stable bike.
