Sadists and psychopaths seem to have taken over this experiment.

You sure that call wasn’t always coming from inside the house?

Perhaps the more fake and curated the internet becomes, the more people will act out when given the chance?

Reported racism, showed “Reporting…”, got:

“Could not send the report. Please try again.”

SV_BubbleTime · 3 hours ago
Why do you feel the need to report it? Is it a direct threat to someone? Is it illegal -or- do you just not like it and want it to go away?

It seems pretty clear to me no one that cares is on the other end of this.

Thank you for the validation. As much as I don't like NVIDIA's shenanigans on Linux, having a local LLM is very tempting and I might put my ideological problems to rest over it.

Though I have to ask: why two eGPUs? Is the LLM software smart enough to be able to use any combination of GPUs you point it at?

SV_BubbleTime · 2 days ago
Even today some progress was released on parallelizing WAN video generation over multiple GPUs. LLMs are way easier to split up.

My personal experience is that it produces high quality results.

Vine is about the only benchmark I think is real.

We made objective systems turn out subjective answers… why the shit would anyone think objective tests would be able to grade them?

Given the way that a lot of AI coding actually works, it’s like asking what percent of code was written by hitting tab to autocomplete (intellisense) or what percent of a document benefited from spellcheck.
SV_BubbleTime · 2 days ago
While most of us know the next word guessing is how it works in reality…

That sentiment ignores the magic of how well this works. There are mind blowing moments using AI coding, to pretend that it’s “just auto correct and tab complete” is just as deceiving as “you can vibe code complete programs”.

On the other hand, that extra money can be used to expand the business in other ways, plus most kids coming out of college these days are going to be experts in getting jobs done with AI (although they will need a lot of training in writing actual secure and maintainable code).

“You won’t lose your job to AI, you’ll lose it to someone who uses AI better than you do”

Yeah, in that case, this sounds like a horrific idea.

I could hear a neighbours smoke alarm beeping periodically due to low battery the other night and went around to replace the battery for them the next day.

Also, I wasn't aware of the showdead setting (and had no idea about the answer that had been hidden), thanks for the tip.

There’s a growing discovery on YouTube and TikTok videos, that some people just live like this.

Even better is to turn most of your lawn into natural landscape, leaving just the part you want to use for recreation as mowed.
SV_BubbleTime · 4 days ago
This is highly dependent on where you live and what kind of creatures and insects you will be hosting.

I’m a big fan of natural landscaping, but just letting your grass over grow is not that.

I really like the software & systems aspects of this, but I don't understand how homeowners are making the hardware work in non-ideal situations.

It would have to be constantly mowing my lawn in Texas or it would be at risk of trapping itself in a jungle. There is no way a robot mower could deal with 10+ days of growth in the summer. I can stall a 7hp+ 22" mower at practically any speed if I try to cut a full width strip in these conditions.

SV_BubbleTime · 4 days ago
Yes that is exactly it. It mows every day or a couple days. The blades on these look about razor blade size. If you don’t mow for a week you would need to hit it with a real mower.

I seem to remember “inflation is transitory”, but no, eggs aren’t up. Your dollar is down.
