You should rename the project to OpenBox if you are not using a copyleft license. It is not libre.

Libre means free. MIT gives more freedom than copyleft.

Straddled joins were still a bottleneck in Readyset even after switching to hash joins. By integrating Index Condition Pushdown into the execution path, we eliminated the inefficiency and achieved up to 450× speedups.

Why downvote?

What database engine is this in? You reference your product, but I assume this is in MySQL/MariaDB?

Seems like they are caching MySQL with their own layer built on RocksDB.

Yeah time blindness is my arch nemesis… but it has led to some pretty serious grit and persistence for difficult things under pressure. You need me to start on an arduous, long, difficult task right this second? No problem. You need me to do something on February 23rd 2027 at 4:30am in Anchorage Alaska? Should be fine as long as I’m still using the same calendaring system then. You need me to chip away at a background task steadily for two weeks? I hope you really mean you need me to work on other neat cool things for 13 days, panic, and stay up all night getting it done. (Apparently adrenaline is great for focus, too)

Is Westmere the minimum architecture needed for the required SSE?

Server hardware at the minimum v2 functionality can be found for a few hundred dollars.

A competent administrator with physical access could solve this quickly.

Take a ReaR image, then restore it on the new platform.

Where are the physical servers?

LtdJorge · 10 days ago
Zen 2 Epyc would barely double the price of older platforms if you buy an entire server, and would run circles around them.

> Erlang, at least the programming model, lends itself well to this, where each process has a local heap. If that can stay resident to a subsection of the CPU, that might lend itself better to a reasonably priced many core architecture.

I tend to agree.

Where it gets -really- interesting to think about, are concepts like 'core parking' actors of a given type on specific cores; e.x. 'somebusinessprocess' actor code all happens on a specific fixed set of cores and 'account' actors run on a different fixed set of cores, versus having all the cores going back and forth between both.

Could theoretically get a benefit due to instruction cache being very consistent per core, giving benefits due to the mechanical sympathy (I think Disruptors also take advantage of this).

On the other hand, it may not be as big a benefit, in the sense that cross process writes are cross core writes and those tend to lead to their own issues...

fun to think about.

The BEAM launches a scheduler process per CPU thread in SMP mode, although I don't know if it moves Erlang processes between them.

Should definitely be able to filter out any of the sources. Unless that's already there and I'm not seeing it.

You're probably being sarcastic, but in the eventuality you aren't, this is if you install every single package.
LtdJorge · 14 days ago
No, it’s actually the disk usage of hosting a full mirror, other users commented on that

Citation needed. I honestly do not know what you are referring to. Even if I had to take your "sexual predator" at face value, I would still have to balance that against the good stable reliable distro they have been done for so many years.

> Everyone wants you to install their app these days.

Except that's not what they want here. What they want is for the apps that most people already use to add support for this.

LtdJorge · 21 days ago
I know, and it's frankly better. They didn't make an app, they made a protocol.
