The Fight Against Federal Overreach?

* https://www.courthousenews.com/top-city-prosecutors-form-faf...

The US are having their split from the world, cleaved from within moment; all driven by a nominal desire to be great again.

Future history lessons on these moments in time will be interesting.

I like Termius a lot better than JuiceSSH. Move on, you won't miss it.

I like graffiti - even random tags over blank walls because it’s a sign people are truly living and breathing in a space.

As long as there have been walls there has been graffiti. Spaces without graffiti are artificial and antiseptic.

I like that part of it too - but feel that if I owned a building and had people spraying paint all over its exterior whenever they felt like it...maybe not so much.

Small bespoke personalized on the spot apps are the future with LLMs.

The future will absolutely not be "How things are today + LLMs"

The paradigm now for software is "build a tool shed/garage/barn/warehouse full of as much capability for as many uses possible" but when LLMs can build you a custom(!) hammer or saw in a few minutes, why go to the shed?

InMice · 13 days ago
I like this take. "How things are today + LLM" is in some ways the best we can approximate because one is all we know and other side is the future unfolding before our eyes. One of the coolest things about vibe coding I find is starting with a base like django then using vibe coding to build models and templates exactly how one wants for a UIUX. Basically maybe we still need humans for the guts and low level stuff but that provides a base for fast, easy personalized customization.

I had a job where in short we had a lot of pain points with software that we had no resources permitted to fix them. With a mix past experience, googling I started writing some internal web based tools to fix these gaps. Everyone was happy. This is where I see vibe coding being really helpful in the higher level stuff like higher level scripting and web based tools. Just my opinion based on my experience.

It works great on mobile. That's more than I can say for most things.

Turn your phone to landscape, does it sitll work for you? Or are you stuck viewing only the top half of the images and unable to scroll down.

Side scrolling in portrait is not my opinion of working great. It does work to view them at least. Youre trapped in a vertical scroll, no way to get back to the beginning but scroll all the way back.

Cool, but why lay out the images in such an annoying way? Whatever happened to simple, functional photo galleries? I miss them.

Ooooh, I always though it just doesn't remember any view settings at all
InMice · 17 days ago
I cant quite figure it out exactly either. Seemingly random, then sometimes there's partial order. I honestly have to close my eyes and take deep breaths in thru the nose out the mouth while sitting at my desk while trying to get stuff done LOL. Im just so sick of decades of these stupid bugs.

Clicking on folders that you have put in Finders sidebar - It will not display the folder with the view settings set for that folder, but instead the last folder you clicked in the sidebar. It seems to happen clicking from top to bottom vs bottom to top. You just cant make this sh*t up it's so bad.

Example sidebar:

Applications - Always shows as icons

Documents - Shows as icons if you last clicked on Applications. Shows as details if last you clicked on Downloads

Downloads - Always shows as details

Finder is the absolute worst we could write a book about it. Once a year or so all my sidebar folders randomly vanish and I have to re-add them.

Also The most annoying "it's a feature, not a bug" - That instant drop down of the title bar in full screen if the mouse cursor hits the top edge of the screen. So obnoxious with remote desktop sessions. No delay, no way to disable it, no way to change anything about it.

Now do Google. A few that immediately come to mind:

* Accounts: Can't use a GSuite address for Youtube, Nest, or any other Alphabet offering. Never explained. 15 years of this.

* Sheets: Hide the sum option in the menu bar. After digging, you find the Summa character and click on it. Oh, it's a menu of functions, not sum.

* Search.

That you cant jump to the beginning or end of search results in gmail. You can only click page by page and only know the end is near when you know when the results get close to your account creation date. The only work around is to guess ahead with editing the results page number in the URL string. It's been this stupid annoying way since day 1 of gmail.

Also now seeing the stupidest copying of liquid glass in google's web interfaces. Like adding transperancy to some of their pop up info boxes just so ugly and pointless.

i accidently logged in from my browser that is set to use a socks proxy instead of chrome which i dont set to a proxy and was otherwise using claude code with. they quickly banned me and refunded my subscription. i dont know if its worth it to try to appeal. does a human even read those appeals? figured i could just use cursor and gemini models with api pricing. but im sad to not be able to try claude code i had just signed up.
