Haha something that I want to try out. I have started using voice input more and more instead of typing and now I am on my second app and second TTS model, namely Handy and Parakeet V3.

Parakeet is pretty good, but there are times it struggles. Would be interesting to see how Qwen compares once Handy has it in.

Why parakeet over whisper v3 turbo? Just curious as one who heavily uses whisper, I’ve seemed to have better results with that
Footprint0521 commented on Nanolang: A tiny experimental language designed to be targeted by coding LLMs   github.com/jordanhubbard/... · Posted by u/Scramblejams

At this point, I am starting to feel like we don’t need new languages, but new ways to create specifications.

I have a hypothesis that an LLM can act as a pseudocode to code translator, where the pseudocode can tolerate a mixture of code-like and natural language specification. The benefit being that it formalizes the human as the specifier (which must be done anyway) and the llm as the code writer. This also might enable lower resource “non-frontier” models to be more useful. Additionally, it allows tolerance to syntax mistakes or in the worst case, natural language if needed.

In other words, I think llms don’t need new languages, we do.

Go read ai2027 and then be ashamed of yourself /s

But seriously, llms can transmit ideas to each other through English that we do understand, we are screwed if it’s another language lol

This feels like saying “what if we just coded in raw HTML CSS instead of JS library bloat.”

Which is valid but also this article idea seems to make the rounds every two weeks

what are the blue dots? (not water bodies i think?)
Footprint0521 · 22 days ago
I was curious about this too and it’s actually a bug— these blue dots are random parks or park features. Most parks are polygons, but less than 5% or them are points from volunteer mappers who didn’t make them polygons and so these stray points seem to slip through and get plotted as the matplotlib default color…

If only I knew this before I printed it out and attached it all together with rasterbator lol

I believe (from a quick code check on my phone) it should be possible to output the images to SVG with a little tweak, thanks to your use of matplotlib?

Is there a reason you’ve defaulted to PNG that I’m missing?

Footprint0521 · 23 days ago
Holy heck exporting to PDF/SVG for large cities is laggy, just patched the repo and did it for one over half a million people and it’s insanely slow lol

Care to share more details about this? Which account? What do you mean by “suspicious”? What specific effects does this have?

I use a VPN 24/7 on one machine. Zero issues even with banking, although sometimes I have to answer CAPTCHAs.

What VPN?! Proton literally doesn’t work on anything

We are all glorified QA testers with software architect title now. Sure we set the structure of what we want but everything else the AI does and most of our time is now spent testing and complaining to the AI.

Pretty soon AI will do the QA portion as well. It will generate any piece of software, even games for a cool $200/month from a vendor of choice: Microsoft (OpenAI) or Google

Companies will stop paying for SaaS or complex ERP software, they will just generate their own that only the AI knows how to maintain, run, and add features.

It's ironic that software developers are the most enthusiastic about automating their jobs out of existence. No union, no laws that interfere with free market forces.

Footprint0521 · a month ago
Maintenance still has cost and will surely exist in some fashion?

But if that is going to be the case, I want to be the best of the best at understanding it all so that I’m the first hired and last fired lol
