I didn't realise Alaska had that southern archipelago but even before I checked it definitely looks like it traces a fault line.

Yep, it's along the ring of fire where most of the world's earthquakes occur.

Which is doubly funny because it's a tourist/retirement town with a larger than it needs police department (whole region is this way, not just this town) so they inevitably fill their time with with activities befitting the name.

Are you saying the excessive number of police results in absurd enforcement practices, or are you saying their officers are large because they spend all day confiscating sandwiches?

The Tariff Act of 1930 reflects the duality between the President’s executive power to conduct foreign policy and Congress’s legislative power to set taxes.

Until the early 20th century, tariffs were the primary mechanism for raising federal revenue. So Congress viewed tariffs as a tax, within Congress’s purview. But the 1930 Tariff Act also recognizes that tariffs are also a tool of foreign policy, which is within the President’s purview.

Regulating commerce with foreign nations is also a specific enumerated congressional power in the commerce clause of article 1.

If I pay you to tell me the plot of Indiana Jones, privately, because I don’t have time to watch it, and you agree, did you violate copyright laws?

If you do it for free, is it different?

If I ask a friend to draw me as Indiana Jones? Or pay an artist? In either case I just want that picture to put in my rec room, not to sell.

OpenAI is currently valued at $300 billion, and their product is largely based on copying the copyrighted works of others, who weren't paid by OpenAI. It's a bit (exponentially) different from a "me and you" example.
