I hope nothing makes it necessary, but I do hope it becomes commonplace. It's such a better experience to complete a ballot leisurely in one's own home, being able to discuss it with my own family and referencing a plethora of materials, than having to go out of my way to wait in line and have prepared everything ahead of time (and, hopefully, remembered it).
Also it's very easy to work with React from Meteor:
Collision avoidance tech also seems like a good idea.
That said, I don't think we need the government to do anything.
Drivers can unionize and demand better hours. Insurance companies can require collision avoidance tech be installed. Etc.
And if you really believe the government needs to be involved, then it doesn't hurt to try both the government regulation route, and the self-regulation route at the same time. The latter could get implemented faster than the government....
Most deaths are not truck drivers, but drivers of cars who enter in collisions with trucks. And truck drivers would like to make more money in shorter periods of time and not spend this time resting someplace away from home.
I hope autopilots will replace truck drivers soon.
I use a Windows desktop and I constantly find myself wondering: "what am I paying MS for?". I personally like to use Word (even though it's too bloated for my needs), but clients ask for work to be in Google Docs so they can share and comment better.
My Windows experience is now largely limited to opening Chrome and doing virtually everything in it. I might open up Notepad from time to time to make a quick few notes. But that's mostly out of habit, not necessity.
Don't say "but I code on it". If you're a coder, you're already a specialized use case.
The majority of the world simply doesn't need a bloated Windows OS to run their browsers.
I'd be shorting Microsoft if I were an investor.
P.S.: I was also an early Windows Phone user because I loved the UI (still the best in the business IMO). I dumped the phone after 1 year when it constantly crashed on me (Nokia Lumia 720), had terrible apps, and didn't have half the features of my friends' iPhones and Androids. It got a notification center just about two years ago. And I still can't find apps on the marketplace that aren't cheap clones.
a) you get bribed by some external sweepstakes or ad or any which way to vote for a candidate you genuinely don't support.
b) you in your home get hit by a vandal with a specific mission to make you vote for their candidate. Remember, this felon does not know when you get your ballot nor when you voted.
Hell, which is more likely to be tracked down? The Musk trials will take months. that felon will be arrested before the week ends.
a) bribing is more probable, happened by foreign country here this Sunday
b) it's a lot more dangerous for the entire society, it's not a vandal in your home, if anonymity is not implemented by voting process, then the local gang leader will force you (and all your neighbors) to vote for him, at the date he will tell you and you won't be able to do anything as he will be in power after these elections and will make possible to fake future elections.
