When will it be normalized to be able to say "Parents should just be doing their job" before we decide to ruin everything online for everyone else.

Although I know it's not really about protecting the kids. I wonder if the politicians are exempt from this too as they were chat control.

> The scanning would apply to all EU citizens, except EU politicians. They might exempt themselves from the law under “professional secrecy” rules.

What about my "PERSONAL SECRECY" ?

EduardoBautista · 13 hours ago
Saying parents should be doing their jobs will lose you votes, that's why. Anything that implies personal responsibility is political suicide.

That's not a good answer, unless you just want cable. YouTube, Netflix, etc won't work. Buying hardware is paying extra which is already a deterrent, but anyway just shifts the problem to that piece of hardware - is the stick vetted to not do any harm? Other solutions are often impractical or overly complex for non-technical people. I haven't seen any good answers to date. I guess your TV just shouldn't spy on everything you watch? Seems like a reasonable expectation.

I trust Apple’s business model.

The Apple App Store is full of scam apps. It’s all the disadvantages of a walled garden with none of the supposed advantages for users. In that way, the App Store itself is a scam.

I haven't encountered any to be honest. Can you link to one as an example?

EVs often have great acceleration, so I would think it would be a natural fit for the sports car market. Even the ordinary ones are a lot more fun to accelerate on a freeway onramp than an ordinary 4- or 6-cylinder gas engine.

Sports cars are about handling, not acceleration.

> PYUSD's price momentarily deviated from its $1 peg but quickly stabilized following the burn.

Why is there even a market for trading between asset-backed stable coins and USD? Shouldn't issuer always buy it back for nominal price?

I believe you can sell your USDT back to tether. Although I haven’t heard the same about other stablecoins.

Who are Oracle's cloud computing customers? In my circle I hear mostly about AWS, with a little Azure and GCP, but I don't know people running anything on Oracle Cloud. Presumably there are circles where Oracle Cloud is gaining rapidly, given these numbers. Are these Oracle customers shifting from other cloud providers or using cloud resources for the first time?

EDIT: I missed the news from yesterday that OpenAI signed a $300 billion (!) contract with Oracle Cloud:

https://techcrunch.com/2025/09/10/openai-and-oracle-reported...

So this big cloud revenue jump may be from a single giant customer.

Some small startup called OpenAI signed a $300m deal with them.

These examples feel a bit contrived, are there any other cases where random CSS values would be useful? I don't often reach for randomness when doing business apps.

I can only imagine the groundbreaking and innovative MySpace themes that would have been possible with this new random technology.

Stable coins (which is what the article is about) feel like just a small part of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, and far from the craziest part. I dont think the wild west era has passed yet.
EduardoBautista · 7 months ago
The most traded cryptocurrency is USDT, a stablecoin. It has over double the daily trade volume that Bitcoin has, the second most traded cryptocurrency by volume. Stablecoins are a huge part of the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
