> love to meet some of these people IRL to see how their brain ticks

The most popular car colours are white, grey and black [1]. People don’t generally want opinionated cars. Driving a Tesla is now politically opinionated.

> I live in a pretty left leaning areas with many Teslas

If everyone drives a Tesla it’s not opinionated. I live in a small blue town in a deep red state. Folks are dumping their Teslas.

Nationally, Teslas have depreciated 10% over the last year, Cybertrucks 60% [2].

Tesla is over valued anyway. People need to dump that stock before it commits suicide in a bunker.

If you are not threatened by an ideology of death, then you are a proponent. Even the suggestion of nazism or communism or feudalism should result in scorn and massive repercussions.

I wonder how much of that affects its Directorate of Science & Technology, which may be a little more topical for HN.

I fear there's going to be a lot more cyberattacks on the US in the coming years.

That's actually low. For comparison the latest Call of Duty is upwards of 100GB install size.

This memory monopoly is ridiculous! I have maybe 20 free gigs left on my computer. There has to be something really amazing about COD if I’m ever gonna buy a new PC for it.

Is this because they are multi-billion dollar companies, or because they behave poorly, or because you haven't been properly compensated for your contribution to the content on the internet?

It is very likely that voting, or voting with your wallet, or probably any kind of activism, would have more impact than withdrawing from the (online) public life.

I’m very confused as to what my $23.45 wallet has to do with what billion dollar Ai companies do.

Ask it about Sam Altman's sister's allegations, though.

I asked it, and it claimed knowledge ended in 2023.

Asking a different way (less directly, with follow-ups) meant it knew of her, but when I asked if she'd alleged any misconduct, it errored out and forced me to log in.

It used to answer the question. https://x.com/hamids/status/1726740334158414151

That’s irrelevant the conversation is about government actions being censored. We can discuss Altman after.

Reminds me of the ultimatum I gave my dog last week: I told him that if he didn't stop pooping on the floor, I would punish him by pooping on the floor myself.
BitterCritter · a year ago
I think that’s a bad metaphor, though I don’t particularly know what you’re trying to say.

This applies to TikTok. We can’t be tolerant of any social media that disallows specific words or groups.

Computer networks do have packet life which I guess would be a fix for this, but don’t quote me I’m not a network engineer.

>Thinking about efficiency is a reliable way to buzz-kill creative inspiration.

on the autism spectrum are systems thinkers, many liking to think precisely about efficiency, we are very creative about it and it makes us happy (read Simon Baron-Cohen's The Pattern Seekers: How Autism Drives Human Invention)

you're a buzzkill

BitterCritter · a year ago
No, as an autist, this guy is right. I’ve “systematically”thought about it a lot and creativity is something that must be done the long and hard way. You can be creative about efficiency but not efficient about creativity.
