Simply enter a word and generate a graph showing the number of mentions on Twitter

Good one. Possible to build where there could be a comparison? or even a version where if you give one keyword, similar keywords could be identified and a common graph could be visualized. I have a need for this kind of visualization for political analytics.

Thanks for letting me know, I wasn't aware of that, unfortunately I would need Premium API access to support cashtags and hashtags (I opted for the free plan...)

How far back can this go? Would you be able to do 1-3 years of daily data?

Not very far unfortunately, up to 7 days in the past with my version of Twitter API access. I could have more data with academic/entreprise access.

My motivation : for the technical challenge, and because I wanted a way to visualise how much real world events are mentioned on Twitter !

Not really planning to develop this project further, I wanted to post it on HN just to see if people find it interesting.
