Ask HN: Where do you regularly discover interesting links on internet?
I recently came across websites like special.fish and gossipsweb.net, do HN users have different sources?

There is this orange outdated looking site where nerds hang out that I like - https://news.ycombinator.com/

May it never be modernised

It's so fast, and it loads quite well on my Kobo eReader and in CLI.

Is there a reason why HN is orange?

The devs implemented a halloween theme just before losing their SSH key for the production server about 10 years ago.

You can choose your preferred colour in your settings. Mine is #abdcef pale blue.

@dang it would be awesome if this also translated to the icon and favicon :| I know, I know, it would be crazy.

It's the Y Combinator corporate colour

Actually only hackernews because the community here is well educated and is interested in commenting and discuss on a higher level.

Every group has it's detractors/screwups/etc. It just might be a lower percentage here than other places. I've seen some nasty stuff on a few of the posts that have a tie into politics (FL Data Scientist article recently) and of course downvoting without discussion or explanation.

I recently watched a post that had a good conversation in the comments get flagged and removed on the basis of "the author is a college student, what do they know". Was really disappointing to see.

Overall I enjoy my experience here, though.

https://skimfeed.com/

And everything else is just an amalgamation of all the RSS feeds I follow, and some subreddits I'm subscribed to.

OT: Just checked their privacy statement in which they say "NO TRACKING (EXCEPT GOOGLE ANALYTICS, AND INTERNAL TRACKING)". That is quite a cheeky statement.

I never thought to look, those seems indeed contradictory

I should turn off my adblocker and see if there's ads..

I made this space to share cool links with friends: https://tray.club/ (inspired by communities like special.fish). Not the best place for link discovery yet, but I like sharing an evergreen bundle of links and notes with friends this way :)

I have https://wiby.org/ set as my homepage... when I need to, I hit "surprise me" and it always does!
