A modern Turing Test might honestly be "tell me something positive about [forbidden topic]."

There are many humans that can’t pass that test.
zeven7 commented on Gemini CLI tips and tricks for agentic coding   github.com/addyosmani/gem... · Posted by u/ayoisaiah

Gemini CLI is a wild beast. The stories of it just going bonkers and refactoring everything it reads on its own are not rare. My own experience was something like, "Edit no code. Only give me suggestions. blah blah blah" first thing it does is edit a file without any other output. It's completely unreliable.

Pro 3 is -very- smart but it's tool use/following directions isn't great.

I've been using Gemini 3 in the CLI for the past few days. Multiple times I've asked it to fix one specific lint error, and it goes off and fixes all of them. A lot of times it fixes them by just disabling lint rules. It makes reviewing much harder. It really has a mind of its own and sometimes starts grinding for 20 minutes doing all kinds of things - most of them pretty good, but again, challenging to review. I wish it would stick to the task.

See elsewhere where I've quoted parts of it in this thread but if you read "Actually, I don't think Africa is polluted enough!" and take the person saying it seriously instead of reading it as a joke, then you might need to touch grass.
zeven7 · 24 days ago
I think you missed the joke. The thing that was funny about it to him when he said it was he knew it was a natural extension of his public position, yes an extreme version of it, but he knew it was also true and’s logical and it was funny to get away with saying it behind closed doors. An honest person would recognized the truth behind the joke and change the position that it stemmed from because they cared about making the world better. The fact that he recognized he was making the world worse AND continued in that path is what is so blatantly evil and revealing about this memo.

If Kevin Spacey had written a private note to Woody Allen that said, "Now that we've been chased out of the film industry, let's become day care workers," then it would be a very different kind of "joke" than The Onion writing the same as a headline.

+1 - it also doesn't support remote ssh (the open vsx variant), so is probably only focused at local web design development vibe coding ;(

Should have just been an extension with a paid plan.

I’m using remote ssh with it via the same plugin and settings I use in VS Code.

Who lobbied for it to work that way? I'm assuming google aren't entirely innocent here.

From what I remember Google fought against DMCA abuse by media companies and lost.

>But it leads to ridiculous whoppers like this, and ends up in practice excusing what amounts to the most corrupt regime in this country in over a century, if not ever.

Amen. Preach it, brother!

>No, this is just bad, on its own, absent any discussion about what someone else did. There was no equivalent pardon of a perpetrator of an impactful crime in a previous administration I can think of. I'm genuinely curious what you think you're citing?

I don't know what the poster was referring to, but I AM mad at Biden for pardoning his family. It's a molehill of an issue compared to the current administration though.

zeven7 · 2 months ago
I would be very mad at Biden pardoning his family if the next president was going to be Bush. With all of Trump's calls for retribution, and actions in that direction since the election, it is hard to blame Biden for trying to shield his son from unjust exercises of the law, while Trump was publicly touting him as one of his biggest enemies.

That's the right approach. On the other hand, do you even want to participate in a scam interview?
zeven7 · 2 months ago
Even for legit interviews I don’t want all the random NPM dependencies they’re using running on my computer

Exactly. There are at least several different modes these scammers are operating in but eventually it all boils down to some "technical" part in the interviews where the developer is supposed to run some code from an unknown repository.

Nowadays just to be sure, I verify nearly every person's LinkedIn profile's creation date. If the profile has been created less than a few years ago, then most likely our interaction will be over.

I just spin up an EC2 instance for the interview

The discussions I've seen on the right certainly indicate that they believed Dominion to be affiliated with the left.

As for the reality, I can't say. I've not done the legwork to have an informed position.

So it didn’t move from one party to another

Half the country feels the way you do. The other half felt that way for the past four years.

If centralized ownership is an issue, we should all work together to fix that. If the issue is the party affiliation, then it isn't an issue at all.

zeven7 · 2 months ago
Did Dominion have a party affiliation? I would assume we just went from neutral party affiliation to strong party affiliation, not from one party to another.
