What do you do with that much electricity? Was it necessary to over-dimension for winter?
yvan · 4 months ago
If you have an EV that can be charged only at night, a big battery is required.

I just wanted to thank you for Life, it's incredibly fun to play with it. I love the mobile app to record and then transfer it on desktop to experiment and find fund loops.

yvan commented on PHP Popularity: Is it decreasing and what to do about it?   otsch.codes/blog/pophpula... · Posted by u/kugelblitz

PHP popularity is decreasing because there are better tools for the same niche today. The same happened for Perl in 00s. The same is happening for every web backend language, as JavaScript is becoming ubique due to it being the de facto and only choice for the web frontend.

Maybe PHP can be made better, but it would need some radical changes and then the question is that if it’s worth the effort and maybe to pick up some of the new tools instead.

I am curious what are the radical changes you are thinking about that PHP needs.

I don't see how they can legally have any control over what a 3rd party's software outputs. And more importantly, how would they even enforce such restrictions?

I believe Elasticsearch is a trademark.

I find it interesting, as recently I was reading about how complex it would/could be to create an index suggester.

yvan commented on Show HN: I ranked news websites by speed   legiblenews.com/speed... · Posted by u/bradgessler
yvan · 3 years ago
I would have ranked the speed by the article's page and not homepages. As most of the users they only see the article's page, that page needs most of the attention. Homepage is usually for the hard users and they wouldn't mind a bit slower page than the article's.

In the article the author mention that VS Code doesn't support Poetry venv. This can be solve by configuring Poetry to create the virtualenvironment directly in the project folder (which in my opinion is neater).

Here is the config https://python-poetry.org/docs/configuration/#virtualenvsin-...
