Least depressed HN user.

But seriously, life should be fun. If it's not I'd encourage you to think about how you can make a change, even if it's just your mindset.

I'm not depressed in the slightest myself, but I just don't see why we try to keep all people alive, all the time, at all cost. Yes, I'm exaggerating a bit, but at some point life ends, and I'm fine with that.

If I have had a nice length of life (lets say something like 70 years), and am no longer happy, healthy or capable of taking care of myself, don't save me next time I need saving (in order to live longer).

wwwhizz commented on How many Linux commands can a 7 year old learn?   thejavaguy.org/posts/008-... · Posted by u/ivanche

I've helped some older people and found the same. The command line gives some users more confidence. Hearing that "the computer does exactly what you tell it to", but "it's dumb, so you have to tell it very precisely" is more empowering than being expected to click around and figure out how things work.

The computer does exactly what you tell it to do, but never what you mean.

I just learned from the blog that the author also published a book on the history of nuclear secrecy last year. I've read the introduction and am very excited to go through more

(Books title is Restricted Data)

Could you please tell us what the title is? ;)

In the README: "Windows 10 or newer"

To build it, yes. It never mentions it is for running on Windows.

Can it easily record a square section of the screen without recording the full screen? Would be nice to have a program like that equivalent to screenshot tools like flameshot.
wwwhizz · 4 years ago
This only records the whole screen. You might want to try OBS Studio?

Congrats on making a small, useful, working tool! I like the minimalism.

Maybe you should mention on your GitHub page that it is for Windows.

I'm not American, and I am genuinely curious, why does the FBI investigate this?

I can imagine the US government wanting an investigation in cases like this, and I can understand Beirut wanting (or maybe just allowing) different countries to investigate, but isn't foreign investigations a job of the CIA (or, at least, not the FBI)?

I got interested with these symbols when my son was born and I was doing all of our laundry what seemed like all hours of the day. So it was a good opportunity to play with machine learning and vision edge by gcp. Ended up building a pair of apps for iOS and android that can identify the symbols

I ended up washing everything on 40 degrees and throwing everything in the dryer. Works just fine.
