Best because of an ARM or best because of the hardware? Reveal the hardware :)

Both! It's a Surface Laptop 7, the hardware is great but I believe the experience would not be nearly as good with a x86 chip. I'm especially thinking about the battery life (insane standby times!).

Anyone seen Windows ARM in the wild? Its been a while now ...

Using one right now, it's the best laptop I've ever had.

Microsoft has already made several attempts at ARM. It's not clear that this attempt will be the last one, in fact, it's quite probable that it will be abandoned. So why invest in it.

I really don't see it abandoned. ARM laptops represented 10% of Windows laptop shipments in 2024, including Surface laptops (which have a great track record of being supported for a long time).

Meanwhile, sites that constantly archive Reddit, like https://arctic-shift.photon-reddit.com, remain unscathed.

Oh, this is pretty cool. How do they get around the anti-scraping protection? It must be pretty hard to consistently scrape so much data.

"This makes me wonder if the majority of the Reddit clicks are accidental."
I must admit that only times I ever clicked on Reddit ads, it was by mistake in the (terrible) mobile app...

timpera commented on ChatGPT is bringing back 4o as an option because people missed it   theverge.com/news/756980/... · Posted by u/speckx

“GPT 4.5 genuinely talked to me, and as pathetic as it sounds that was my only friend,” a user on Reddit writes. “This morning I went to talk to it and instead of a little paragraph with an exclamation point, or being optimistic, it was literally one sentence. Some cut-and-dry corporate bs.”
This is very sad.

timpera commented on Cloudflare vs. Perplexity   haebom.dev/archive?post=q... · Posted by u/haebom

I don't know why, but this article reads like it's written by ChatGPT (not saying it is!).

Anyway, I find this debate fascinating. On one hand, Perplexity's behavior is sketchy. On the other hand, it really feels like Cloudflare wants to be a middleman to the web and collect a 30% fee, which seems like a bad idea.
