NHTSA reports crash data for every auto manufacturer. Tesla's is noteworthy for being heavily redacted.

Quite oddly in the context of all these varied comments, this key claim is demonstrated as false.

What’s the situation where this is useful? Seems like ‘replace your remote duckDB instance—used to replace a DB server—with duckDB instance + a flight server (or a bunch of them!)’. Who has a problem for which this is the solution?

> "more competition among the payment networks"

The exact opposite of what's happening.

How? The Discover network will be substantially better positioned to influence visa mastercard and amex, which are each expensive and oligopolistic. You know anything about this, or just spitballing here?

Cool. Great company, more competition among the payment networks should result in better and less expensive products. Maybe Discover will finally achieve its potential.

Outside of PBS, do you have evidence for this claim: "News is/was paid vast sums by the government to tell a certain story"?

> Alternative views definitely have reach.

Yes, but are we in a 1984 situation where that reach is managed behind the scenes. Reach, but perhaps not too much reach. With respect to the chart, how do we know that Twitter users are not largely partitioned? How representative is the fact you saw something compared to other "communities" on X?

All the while, even if you saw a 'dissenting' chart, the fact the chart exists is direct evidence to the power of a subtle shadow-ban effect. It's not about tears and whining, it's that a single act by 'powerful' accounts can control who gets visibility, and who does not. The point is that it is not you, the community that controls what is popular, but it is the powerful accounts that do. That is the issue.

Reddit mgmt itself has significant concerns, according to anonymous sources. You heard it here first.

The article specifically covers this point. They exceeded their authority.

The article does not define or discuss the authority of DOGE.

Just, as an exercise, list out 3 good reasons someone might want untraceable admin accounts then list 3 really bad reasons they might want that. If you manage to find 3 good reasons does the outcome of those those outweigh the risks of the potential bad reasons?

I appreciate the question. The most obvious is that this is an “audit the auditors” exercise, and they do not want to leak information toward a likely adversarial counterpart. If they have the authority to so, then they do. An adjacent complaint about “not following Treasury policy is similar.” If these systems exist, there is a governing authority structure, and that does not begin at the level contemplated in this document.

For those genuine actors here: this theoretical outrage assumes the premise of something immoral or illegal, and completely ignores the authority structure. This looks and smells like an info operation.

Dead Comment
