Because I have never had the desire to buy alcohol since there is a superior alternative. I am providing context on why me and many others are contributing to the fall of the statistic.

I’m legitimately fascinated by the lack of self-awareness.

It's pretty disgusting to be honest, a captive, bored and/or stressed audience. Though I'm sure they're popular.

A compromise might be if all the profits went toward perks at the base, better food, etc.

If you told soldiers that all the gambling money was going back in, I’m sure some people would be encouraged to spend every last cent, since they’re not really “losing”

Why is it that every bit of news that comes out of some western country is now some form of shit-headedness?

I thought it used to be that parents were responsible for their kids - that's not even a thing now?

And as if this will make any difference to anything?

I think one day the Chinese will be saying "at least we're not living in the west"

What are you talking about? This kind of censorship and authoritarian control is peanuts compared to what China does to their citizens.

I think the screenshots are fake because I’ve been using the internet for very long and I know how publicity campaigns work.

For starters, men with hundreds of thousands of followers have no reason to post a screenshot that shows that women have used an app to report them as creeps. That the kind of thing that belongs in a police report, not in a public social network where you’re trying to build your brand.

subjectsigma · a month ago
This automatically assumes that

1. The people being blamed actually did something wrong and thus want to hide it

2. Everyone is optimizing for likes and branding all the time

3. Someone being blamed for being a creep automatically knows the right thing to do in that situation

Seems reasonable to me that someone could post a legitimate screenshot. (Note this doesn’t imply anything about whether they did something wrong or whether the app is ethical, just that the screenshot could likely be real)

I’ve seen multiple posts online posted by guys showing screenshots. The screenshots would show texts sent to those guys by girls saying that they’ve seen the guys on Tea and that they won’t have any more dates because of what they’ve seen. It all stinks to high heaven.

Isn’t that… exactly what the app is advertising? I don’t understand why you think those screenshots are fake.

Linux is great if you're hardware is supported.

I've never been able to get Linux working right on one of my laptops, on another only rolling releases work.

These rolling releases like to break every 3 to 6 months.

Windows is much more stable on both laptops.

With my mini PC eGPU combo Linux just won't recognize the eGpu at all.

Never post anything like this on HN, you will get a torrent of people A) trying to help, but not being very helpful B) telling you that you’re dumb C) telling you that you’re holding it wrong and that you need different software/hardware/preferences/etc.

I have had tons of grief with NVIDIA cards that work stellar on Windows and the answer I always get talking to Linux folks is “LOL NVIDIA? You’re an idiot for buying NVIDIA.”

My friends who daily drive Linux have accepted that I’m particularly cursed. Either that or they privately think I’m a moron. Regardless none of them seem to be able to explain my issues or help.

> ”After this rest period, he spent a time with his most intimate companions in pleasant diversions, perhaps looking at his jewels or other treasures.”

Men don’t spend a lot of time looking at jewels anymore, but I guess the modern equivalent would be hanging out with your buddies having some beers and admiring your fancy car.

I imagine there also wasn’t much else to do if you couldn’t participate in sports. (Article claimed he was frail so I imagine he wasn’t out there playing soccer or jousting.)

> For the sake of HN's guidelines (to assume good faith) I am assuming this was just you being curious and oblivious to the unintended undertones of your comment, but I'll humbly suggest going over it again.

Part of why I love Hacker News is exploring all the millions of ways people can sound like assholes without actually saying any bad words, or anything negative at all. It’s truly incredible to me and I never get tired of it.
