You are not acknowledging the fact that the companies producing these addictive apps are very much doing it intentionally. They are specifically making it as engaging as possible because that's how they make money. And they have billions of dollars to sink into making their products as irresistable as possible.

The average person has zero chance against all-pervasive, ultra-manipulative, highly-engineered systems like that.

It is, quite simply, not a fair fight.

I hate this age of zero personal accountability. It's so easy to just not doomscroll, but I should be allowed if I want to.

I prefer these types of ads. They're easy to identify at a glance and ignore.

The kind of piece of shit who donates basically his entire fortune to charity? And actual charity at that, not Ellison style "Larry Ellison Research Foundation for Prolonging the Life of Larry Ellison and Getting Some Tax Breaks Along the Way".

Someone once said to me, be very careful about negotiating with leverage… when you twist someone’s arm, they’ll say, “I’ll remember that. You may have won this one, but I’m gonna win the next one.”

Sadly, the US has done this to ourselves… all this arm twisting and strong-manning is coming home to roost.

It’s not clear that patchwork EU government back offices migrating off Teams will hurt US tech, but long term, in aggregate, this is going to be a headache for American tech.

EU can’t out innovate US tech, but they can make it harder to dominate their markets.

No it's not. This is theater to give the impression that they are "getting the orange buffoon". They'll be back in short order, and even if they aren't, it'll just be an insignificant blip on a financial chart somewhere, not even big enough to warrant someone's attention. They did similar things in Trump's first term, and came back groveling.

Obviously, facts do not play a big role in the current government's world view.

Ironically, most people who think that also think the opposite of the previous administration.

stronglikedan commented on AI is killing B2B SaaS   nmn.gl/blog/ai-killing-b2... · Posted by u/namanyayg

I'd actually say the opposite is the case. B2B (even SaaS) is probably the most robust when it comes to AI resistance. The described "in house vibe coded SaaS replacement" does not mirror my experience in B2B at all. The B2B software mindset I've encountered the most is "We'll pay you so we don't have to wrestle with this and can focus on what we do. We'll pay you even more if we worry even less." which is basically the opposite of...let's have someone inhouse vibe code and push to production. B2B is usually fairly conservative.

B2B is a large corp is like you describe, but it's very different in SMBs, and there are many, many more SMBs.
