In process of ditching everything Apple by the end of the year. Going all in on Linux. There's trade offs, nothings perfect, but I don't need a big desperate corporation trying to upsell me on cloud storage and AI.

I remember reading Theodore Roosevelt's biography by Edmund Morris and being shocked how he was basically able to text everyone he needed to be in contact with while president through the telegraph system.

What a last name to be making this argument with.

I try to support writers directly. eg. You can purchase Paul Millerd's Pathless path on his gumroad page and it comes with both the ebook and audiobook: https://pathless.gumroad.com/l/pathlesspath

Tanbooks also sells mp3s of their audiobooks directly on their website. Teresa of Avila's Interior Castle changed my life profoundly for the better. https://tanbooks.com

It used to be:

"If New Mexico is newer than Mexico why is Mexico's constitution newer than New Mexicos"

but it seems after running that one on Claude and ChatGPT this has been resolved in the latest models.

Disappointed that the author of the article has a German name but didn’t coin a long single German word for this.

I met David Sparks back at WWDC in 2018. One of the real ones. Definitely one of those internet people who inspired me make the jump out of Silicon Valley to do my own thing a few years ago. Meeting him made it real. Glad he's writing about it.

> There's an (increasingly small) group of software developers who don't like "magic" and want to understand where their code is running and what it's doing. These developers gravitate toward open source solutions like Kubernetes

Kubernetes is not the first thing that comes to mind when I think of "understanding where their code is running and what it's doing"...

Fall of Carthage by Adrian Goldsworthy

Few people understand the Punic wars and what it took to “delete” Carthage from the world. Delenda Cartago Est.

Goldsworthy tells the story accessibly from both sides of the wars. Lessons that echo throughout history.

More of a biography but still fits your criteria is The Wright Brothers by David McCullough. It’s an easy read and hard to put down. I had no idea what it took to make flying a thing until that book. We definitely take for granted how much those two men changed the world.
