As much as I would love to be a Leslie Knope, by the time I’ve allotted all my caring to the things in life that keep me employed , fed , housed, and ad hoc family requests, I don’t have the capacity to care about much more. I really wish I did ,but because I have a limited “care bucket” , most of it is going to a bunch of insignificant BS. What the author noticed I notice a lot too , but I think that is because I am someone who actually tries to engineer better solutions to problems. I’ve noticed a “good enough” attitude in almost all aspects of my life and it’s frustrating.

Whover wants to oppose these kind of headlights, and SUVs, will have my vote.

Is your comment about SUVs simple because you notice this issue is more prevalent in taller cars or because you don’t like them for other reasons? I myself have not noticed this correlation. Some of the time it’s after market crap the owner didn’t bother to adjust properly, but most of the time it’s newer cars such as Teslas where see this issue , and the sedans are fairly low to the ground

Connecting old tech to new tech is awesome, I love this idea.

There is a stark difference between "fake news" and "difference of opinion that I don't agree with".

"fake news" typically amounts to false rumors, amplifying unprovable/unsubstantiated claims. That's what needs to stop, and what is greatly damaging discourse.

I would be delighted to read about opposing opinions, provided they are presented + supported by provable facts.

A lot of the “fake news” in circulation about Covid turned out to be true. Oh how some of this info was shut down, from twitter and Facebook removing them , to news outlets reporting on them. How do you decide what is fake news and what is something that we just got wrong and a small group of people are pointing out?

> There’s no easy fix for homelessness

True, but that's only because there's no easy way to add housing in modern society. Homelessness is caused primarily by a lack of homes.

In Seattle where I live, homeless is definitely the result of drug use

About a year ago I went in for a regular checkup after my wife reminded me I had not had one. I thought, I’m 25 don’t really need one. Turns out my blood cell count was slightly elevated. 2 months later I do another test, it’s off the charts. Turns out I randomly developed leukemia. 11 months of chemo later, and I’m in remission. Not sure what would have happened if we had not caught it so early.

I don't get they don't crack down on the product switcheroo scam [0] - it seems like a trivial problem to solve. I've reported items to them before and they don't care.

[0] this product for example, loads of the reviews are for something totally different - https://www.amazon.co.uk/WERPOWER-Windscreen-Invisible-Winds...

I was surprised to see this product when I clicked the link. I recently bought one of these and ended up cracking my whole windshield trying to fix a small chip
