When you watch live TV, you watch what one person decides you should be watching.

With eye and head tracking in the headset, you can watch what you want to watch during live events and eventually in interactive motion pictures/motion environments.

snapdeus · 3 years ago
Literally no one wants to do that. That's why it's someone's job to do this.

This is just like how grocery stores have made us all become cashiers.

I'm not doing that, it's work, and I'm not going to do work.

My issue with ff is that when you load a tab, it's status is denoted by a horizontal bar moving from left to right which distracts me. It's beyond me why they don't use a rotating loop like the rest of civilisation. It's an incredibly minor thing, but it's the main reason i stick to chrome. A similarly trivial feature makes me dislike edge.
snapdeus · 3 years ago
Oh interesting. The rotating loop triggers my aphantasia which is why I stick to Firefox and it's pleasing horizontal bar. /S

Fyi you can customize the loading SVG in Firefox. Isn't it nice to use software that respects you?

Sounds a lot like, "I stopped drinking because it became a problem, so everyone else should too."
snapdeus · 3 years ago
Drinking causes severe societal ills and is unhealthy in any amount. Everyone should indeed stop drinking. We should tax alcohol until it is unaffordable for the vast majority.

> Discord (I'm terrified of making a post on the wrong server by accident)

You can make multiple Discord accounts, each with their own set of connected servers; and Discord now supports a sort of "fast user switching" between said accounts.

You can't switch users on mobile!

As a guitar player I can't even imagine relearning a lifetime of experience from scratch again, much less learning to walk and do ordinary things you take for granted. Brains are amazingly plastic, but usually not at age 75. It take incredible will power to get back to this point.

Without video it might have been impossible to recreate her unusual technique.

snapdeus · 3 years ago
I mean, it's not really like he started from scratch. He had to redevelop muscle memory, sure, but much of guitar playing is knowing what will sound good and that doesn't go away even if you lose the whole arm...

I think this is serious overkill, like you can get a way with simple stemming.
snapdeus · 3 years ago
I believe there is built in stemming in this search.

I searched the key word "commit" and some results were returned with the word "committed"

My guess is this guy just set up a simple DB query on the search form and left it at that.

That's what I've done in the past for simple text search.

I know that at least mongodb comes with built in full text search and stemming.

What he really should do is set up elastic search but that's a big pita to learn all that
