You are living in a fantasy land world. My good friend lived in China for five years. Needless to say, he doesn’t speak highly of their ethics, politics, and human policies. I temporally lived in S. Korea for a few months and there were solid blocks of days the air quality was so bad you could barely be outside. Of course the pollution made its way down from China’s unregulated factories. I quickly realized South Koreans are frankly quite racist against the Chinese.

It’s not just Koreans. Nearly all countries near China hate Chinese (probably except North Korea). The air pollution has been definitely the reason why it got worse but largely it’s been historical reasons

Funny trivia, "azar" means "bad luck" in Portuguese.

Also, gambling is generally referred to as "jogos de azar" ("games of bad luck" - at least in Brazil), which fits neatly into the Chatroulette reference.

If I remember correctly, the founder was just a huge fan of a footballer named Eden Hazard, hence the name

Been a Wyze customer for couple of years now. Bought many of their cameras from their store and Home Depot. The cameras are real good and much much cheaper than other big brands (Ring/Nest etc). It seems they are basically building a Xiaomi kinda of brand in the US (Xiaomi is extremely popular in countries like India where they have huge market base with well styled products similar to Apple line).

I'd suggest giving Eufy 2k cameras a try. I was also a long time Wyze fan but I've recently switched to Eufy after trying out their 2k cameras. Compared to Wyze, it offers better resolution (thus 2k in their name), on-device pet/human detection (Wyze charges monthly fees for cloud-based detection), and way better app experience. It's slightly more expensive but well worth the price for me.

The cuisine that comes to mind when I think of spicy food is Korean. Koreans basically eat something spicy every meal in the form of kimchi, and sometimes eat extremely spicy meals. I've heard that basically all Koreans have at least mild stomach inflammation because of this. Koreans also eat quite a lot of meat, using the spiciness of kimchi to clean their palate. I wonder if the health effects can be seen in the Korean population, or if the probiotics in the kimchi will confound the results.

As a korean myself, I can say that kimchi is not really considered “spicy” to Koreans. It just happens to have chili peppers. When Koreans talk about spicy food, it’s the spiciness level of something like bulldak (spicy chicken) that has a lot more spicy ingredients. In relation to effects on health from eating a lot of spicy food, I don’t think you will find much in studying Koreans. Korean food is notoriously famous for being salty (especially soups that most Koreans eat daily) and a lot of Koreans suffer cardiovascular diseases from high blood pressure because of their diet.

On a side note, it’s really kimchi’s acidity that helps with cleaning palate much like Germans’ sauerkraut or Japanese’ pickled ginger (called “gari”) that you eat with sushi.

Amazon's 401k plan is terrible when compared to competing companies. I cancelled my Amazon interview the second I saw the terms of it. I had to find the details for myself because the info packet the recruiter sent me, conveniently left out any details except that there was a 401k plan and some matching.

Only 50% match, and the maximum match they will pay is 2% of salary. (Competitors match 1:1, high or no limit).

Three years vesting on the match. (Immediate vesting elsewhere, e.g. Google).

No match on catch-up contributions. (WTF? Naked age discrimination as policy?)
