Seeking novelty is imprinted in our DNA. We go through life searching for that ‘magical’ thing that will make us feel special. Whether it is Love, God, or an iPhone; it doesn’t matter.

How is your potential market dealing with invoices currently?
shomansal · 5 years ago
From what I saw, many still use paper receipts, some use accounting software.

Hi;

It is hard to admit our limitations, isn't it? But I must admit that I cannot bring this product to life on my own. Most people would just drop the product & move on, maybe that is wise.....but maybe asking for help is wise too. I saw first hand how much 'micro-businessmen' suffer when using a PC, which is weird because they are perfectly comfortable with mobile phones. They are always on-the-move, and most of them are not that good with computers....how then can we expect them to use QuickBooks or a spreadsheet on a regular basis. Maybe there is a better way for that micro-business to invoice customers without hiring someone to sit down & issue invoices all day?

What if you can issue an invoice automatically while you are chatting with clients on WhatsApp, Email or any messaging app! What if you can say (out loud) "invoice Mr. carlin $500 for this service" and an invoice will be generated automatically! What if the invoice was a simple jpg picture is easy to work with'! What if there were a 'link' that is automatically generated with the jpg for your client to approve & pay the invoice! What if all of that was 100% free to do.

Q: You may have understood what I envision here, but are thinking that it is hard to build? A: Absolutely not. I have built an alpha myself without writing a single code. And I almost finished with the beta with a team of 2 junior developers, if only they were hard-working enough.

Q: If it's free how will the startup survive, the bubble of zero profit startups is bursting afterall!? A: Instead of charging those poor micro-businesses a $100/year & having more friction for adoption, we can earn a commission on the payments processed through the app. We don't even have to build the tech, we can just partner with PayPal. Our niche has a revenue of ~$200k/year, our commission on that will surely be more than $100.

Q: What will the name of the startup be? A: UoMe, as in You Owe Me, cool isn't it?!

Help me

Putting it bluntly, it looks like a scam. The broken english, the amateurish design, the stock photo, the requirement to give a WhatsApp number, the (fake-looking) testimonials, the video, the lack of any relevant information (technical or otherwise), and the fact your HN account is essentially submissions to dead or “coming soon” domains. Everything about it screams that we shouldn’t trust it.

@latexr if you think that then I am doing a very bad job
