The best OS to this day was 10.4 tiger that was solid as a rock even with the PowerPC to intel transition.

problem is (from GM's perspective), with CarPlay, Apple takes over the UX of the car...the Apple logo is the first and last thing people see when driving

GM doesn't want Apple or Google taking over the UX of the car, because then GM is eventually just another FoxConn

and sure, there's a money thing...they want revshare from Spotify and every other app they can position in the UI

CarPlay and Android Auto will be gone as fast as car makers can make it happen

Typically, you see the logo before you get into the actual car. I would say you can tell by the shape, but some brands share too much in the looks department (cough Kia/Hyundai).

This sounds like GM is committing brand suicide by actively making itself unappealing to Gen Z.

I love Android, but I also know how to read.

Ya, and it doesn't seem to pick up the context very well, and the quality of responses seem poorer.

I am really surprised how fast/responsive it is. Most UI frameworks feel clunky/slow and react ones feel even slower sometimes.

Its like a mini dot com crash. A lot of pandemic had incredible growth that is was truly sustainable. Now you have companies want their employees back in the office. So all that "growth" that could have been this year is not there.

Thank you for this, it saves me a lot of research; I have been considering going and getting a masters.

In many respects Apple is not keeping up with Chrome and Firefox in terms of new features.

In particularly Apple is not supporting or poorly supporting features associated with "Progressive Web Applications" on mobile to prevent PWA's from competing with the app store on iOS.

Apple is in between a rock and a hard place on this. Webkit activity really slowed down a lot. Apple is pretty much the main contributor. It also gives them the most flexibility to incorporate into their products. Blink engine is very slow on the Mac/Apple products, and would put Apple at the mercy of Google ultimately. The Gecko engine is something they could probably use, but there are a lot of "mixed" opinions on how good the engine is.

Sidenote: I love Apple products, but to be honest Apple is not the best at making software. Recently, the quality has declined too. Their great applications are a few niche professional apps not designed for the average user. They have also gotten a lot slower at releasing updates.

Am I not mistaken, but isn't this change going to make datetime calculation hell now; especially with legacy systems or am I missing something.
