Go make some friends.

I invite people to events almost every time I go out and talk to people.

Most of what I'm working on ends up being social clubs.

Tech Pizza Mondays has been going well, as the Toronto HN meetup. If you're reading this on HN, you're welcome to join us -> URL Mondays.Pizza details on fedi.

We just finished Toronto's Pizza Day, our fifth year in a row and most successful so far. toronto.pizzadao.xyz will eventually get updated to next year's event invite.

I threw a fun experimental comedy party, and I plan to throw another in August. Having a volunteer cast was great, the clown burlesque was shockingly great. I hope to find some team members who want to join forces and put on the greatest talent show this town has ever seen!

Working on founding a school in Toronto has been very difficult, feels like I'm making zero real progress over time. If anyone cares deeply about education, I'd be happy to talk. I'm extremely enthusiastic about the Sudbury Valley School model.

And this last week I started a fitness club, where most weekdays we do strength training with giant wooden swords. Looking for people who want to join up and get strong and have fun!

This makes total sense. When a country is creating public software, it should be open source by default. This is the only way to create trust. In the long run, open source and closed source government software will probably differentiate dictatorships from democracies

That’s right, the hill to die on is the browser’s openness.

Not your OS, not your firmware. Not your hardware. It’s the browser

Always enjoyed this bit below about Voyager 1 a good reminder of how vast the universe is not too mention just to the oort cloud!

"Even though Voyager 1 travels about a million miles per day, the spacecraft will take about 300 years to reach the inner boundary of the Oort Cloud and probably another 30,000 years to exit the far side."

I have to hope that in the distant future we will hopefully have spaceships that will pass voyager still traveling along in space, doing its thing as a relic to us early space traveling humans.

There is at least one star trek episode where this happens :)

No, that is a document ID and changes with each reissuance.

Germany has had a constitutional restriction in place explicitly prohibiting an SSN equivalent.

These days, the tax ID can supposedly be used for that purpose, but I haven’t seen much use of that yet.
