What kinds of food intake/non-intake habits aside from the obvious culprits surprised you?
rodly · 2 years ago
Long-term they will likely make no changes because human desire, habits and behaviors are rarely unknown to us.

The parent comment mentioned feeling tired after consuming something with a lot of sugar, was that really a mystery prior to using CGM? I doubt it.

Sure it's interesting to correlate to your perceived wellness (or lack thereof) with a wearable spitting out data but after the novelty of this discovery wears off my guess is that people will simply stop caring to check what they already know to be the case.

I swear you are on to something. I have been on them for 9 years, and I am basically fried and useless. It's as if I had never been treated at all, if not worse than that. I feel like I am in a constant state of burnout, without actually being burned out, so to speak.

I mean ADHD medication is essentially meth. At first it works, and then you need a little bit more to get the same effect.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 19 years of age (quite a while ago) and it took me 9 months to realize the medication was a net-negative for me.

I encourage you to seek other forms of treatment that aren't medication-based. What works for me is a lot of exercise, good sleep, healthy diet and limiting "easy" dopaminergic activities like scrolling random content or watching random YouTube videos.

Good luck.

Having everyone work at home also changes my lifestyle. There's no way to make everyone happy.

rodly · 4 years ago
It's not a symmetric need though. Your need requires other people to be around you to have your ideal lifestyle. The WFH need doesn't require other people to do anything different (we all use slack/email/etc regardless of where we physically are). Your need is wronging others (requiring them to spend time commuting and being in a distracting office) and their need (you aren't affected) is not wronging others.

It's insane that so many people are okay pathetically dragging other people into a shitty situation just to make themselves happy.

A post about hard work and diligent learning about CS concepts followed by an offer from a top-tier tech company will always be greeted by a bunch of dinosaur software engineers who feel entitled to a job in this industry for life purely because they have some arbitrary number of working years.

If you're applying for an IC role, code or shut up. I don't care if you have solved wicked problems before, it's all talking and hand-waving. Can you take a hard problem, and apply CS concepts and good ole problem solving to produce working, succinct and well written code? That's what you're being hired to do, stop complaining.

Yeah, I use their app on android and it's pretty bad. There's currently a bug that seems to get fixed and then reappear where if someone responds to your comment, you get an alert and when you click on the alert it takes you to the comment, but if the comment is too nested, it just takes you to the top of the thread. This makes responding to a comment in any thread with over 100 comments near impossible. Because of that, I'm using the web app currently and it's really annoying to be constantly pushed back toward a broken app.

Hey there, we've got a fix coming for this, so sorry about that. Thanks for the feedback!

I'm curious, why is it that people dislike affiliate-backed links if the link is relevant, useful, interesting and of equal quality to the normal link? Seems irrational.
