So he invented the word. Got it. http://ctmucommunity.org/wiki/CTMU_sources#Papers

Is this related to CTMU or are you confusing Carnegie Mellon University with CTMU?

"The maximal generality (universality, comprehensiveness) criterion of a reality- theoretic identity, or ontologically necessary and sufficient "Theory of Everything", means that a fully general formal structure must be selected as the skeletal identity or ToE framework of reality. This structure is distributive by definition, applying hologically to every point and part of reality."

.....

Not to be nitpicky, but why? I feel like this sentence was generated by a Markov chain. "Hologically," I couldn't find a definition anywhere. I presume he means wholly?

It must mean that it is woven to every point and part of reality. Like time.
rainieri commented on Why is East Asian earwax different from black and white people’s earwax?   straightdope.com/columns/... · Posted by u/masonic

I've wondered the same! Earwax has been a proxy to categorize race in U.S. history. What is Latinx, or American Indian earwax like?
rainieri · 7 years ago
American Indian will probably share more with Asian than european or african ear wax.

I am guessing Chaldean, language of the Chaldeans (sometimes archaically Chaldees)

In a way, this is historical clickbait. Mention the rumours about Frederick II to get people talking about how wacky this episode is. But don’t mention that Frederick II is just one of several historical figures claimed to have carried out this experiment (one of the earliest is in Herodotus over 15 centuries before) and that it ever happened at all is dubious.
rainieri · 7 years ago
Doesn't seem to far fetched that at least 2 people in power in all of history came up with this question and experiment.
rainieri commented on Having AI systems try to outwit one another could help judge their intentions   technologyreview.com/s/61... · Posted by u/jonbaer

Please, make it stop, link to the actual blog post from OpenAI or the paper instead of some uninformed tech blog writer's horribly half-understanding summary.

"could help judge their intentions". Come on now. Today's "AI systems" don't "intend".

rainieri · 7 years ago
Exactly. One AI programmed with bad intentions will have bad intentions. One with good will do good as programmed. Which one outwits the other will simply result in a part of the code that has a programmed advantage over the other.

It amuses me that, for all its "brokenness," OP lists 5 workable solutions and proposes 1 non-solution. The comments here propose at least one other workable solution (Dear ImGui) that's new to me and looks very nice!

I am more enthusiastic about the future of GUI development than ever before. ;-)

Everyone should use whatever GlassWire uses. Can't remember now what it was. The creator answered that question here on HN.

How do you verify a database you stole isn’t a decoy with dummy data?

You verify it.

Please don't use HN for partisan flamewar, it's seriously destructive of the site. Regardless of which side you're supporting or opposing.

Neither supporting or opposing any side. How is this a threat to HN?

Probably because the Board can't find anyone better to take over this sinking, toxic ship. Sometimes it's just that simple.

Maybe Shkreli when he comes back from jail.
