what changed? I'm tired of having to use the ps5 as a media player :/

Can't say for certain, but it seems like I'm now getting the promised resolution. I remember once having set some DRM-relevant setting in about:config - but not for my current setup IIRC. Also am a proud Firefox user but am using Chrome for Netflix - might be part of the "solution".

Piracy is a service problem. I also have access through university but never use it due to jank.

I sometimes don't even bother checking if a movie is on Netflix and instead just go "elsewhere" I know I'll find it for sure. Precisely up until not too long ago Netflix wouldn't even grant me as a Linux user FullHD resolution (despite paying for it). We're at a point where for many artists it isn't about having your work stolen or bought, but rather fading into obscurity versus someone enjoying what you created.

Seems like none of those 8 domains is denied by my Pi-hole :/ Added them manually but I'd prefer to rely on Pi-holes blacklists.

The video shows a Dhikr practiced by Sufi practitioners. It is worth mentioning that Sufism is being subjected to discrimination as well as violence from Islamists of Shia and Sunni faction alike.

A very intriguing theory why something as mundane as hyperventilating yields a certain desired altered state of consciousness is because the vasoconstriction is affecting first and foremost the more modern and (for survival) less essential parts of our brain tasked with analytic and rational thinking - which happens to be exactly what one wants to curb for a more direct access to and experience of emotional states.

It should also be noted that while all sorts of breathing techniques have been repeatedly rediscovered for thousands of years it was the psychiatrist Stanislav Grof who prominently introduced Holotropic Breathwork to the West as a means of alternative to LSD after it had been banned in the US.

A country can commit to 300 years of wind energy, temporarily harming a bit of nature.

Once a better solution has been found, the land can be freed for the nature to take over again.

We have no issues with stealing a couple of square miles of nature in order to pave it for our cities or to use it for farming.

Once you remove the wind turbines, the harm you've done to the nature was minimal: production of the turbines, used area and generated noise, minimal pollution of the area, the troubles of recycling them. That's mostly it.

You don't have this with oil, nor with current-age nuclear.

Also, we've already accepted the noise of cars, trucks, motorcycles and planes.

So I really don't get what they are protesting about, specially in Germany.

Deconstructing a wind turbine is far from simple and cheap.

I'm not clear what you mean by "contributing to chemical conservation". They don't conserve anything, really.

Hops are antibiotic and antifungal in nature. That, combined with their mild flavor (compared to things like wormwood), is why they are synonymous with beer production today.

hops being "antibiotic and antifungal in nature" "contributes to chemical conservation". (?)

Misleading? Maybe, I don't think so though. "Extraterrestrial" is just "not from/on Earth", it means nothing beyond that.

Why is it so complex to have a foss mobile OS.

I only have Linux PCs (laptops) and servers, 100% of my work and personal stuff is done there (though for work I do need to hop into MS365, Google Workspace, Zoom, etc, hooray for browsers, my final firewall between me and the walled gardens, though we can have a whole discussion on that).

For mobile, we have PostmarketOS, Phosh, Ubuntu Touch. I really must try living in them, is it on me? IDK, our government even has an identity app for iOS and Android. I should not be using it, I should stick to web. But its so much more convenient. I'm just weak, aren't I?

Maybe I should go for Ubuntu touch, with an iPad on the side or something. At least my most personal device is something I control then. Or just keep my Linux laptop handy (or make a cyberdeck!). But I want a computing platform that does not require carrying a bag. It's kinda sad. Even GrapheneOS (one of the most personal and secure mobile computing experiences out there)'s future is in the hands of its greatest adversary, the one that does not want you to have a personal computing experience.

As far as I am concerned a Raspberry Pi 4G/5G/LTE-edition would be 50% of getting there.
