Glitch brought me back to the web when it was more fun and goofy. The design gave it the opportunity to not be so serious and play around with it. I wish more of the web was like Glitch and Kinopio.

Thanks a lot! It's definitely an uphill battle :)

I think I've this a screenshot of this on Tumblr! I was impressed it was real as well.

I love that this silly app had a "Plant Wizard" with 10 steps and a progress bar with icons. That's really good UI design.

hah ya i found it on are.na originally and thought it was a concept too

> Complex tools elevate experts and intimidate novice users from making unique contributions, nurturing groupthink.

This nails a lot about what I think Kinopio gets right. It makes things so simple that everyone can immediately start using and have a voice in group settings.

Thanks humdrum!

EDIT: Fixed now, as told in the replies.

I only see:

> Space is unavailable offline.

> Only spaces that you're a member of, and have visited recently, are available offline

and I can play and add card and move them. What am I supposed to see?

pketh · a year ago
Ya there seemed to be some server downtime preventing you from loading the space, and because the app works offline you got that message

Sorry to be pedantic, but since the licence forbids commercial use, the software isn't open source, but rather just source-available.
pketh · 2 years ago
thanks for letting me know, I've changed the title of the post to "Making the Kinopio Source Code Available"

1. Not technically open source since you can’t use for commercial, but ignoring the pedantry.

2. You’re clearly worried about the commercial risk, why even do it? You have a section on this but even after reading - seems like a non answer.

> The big benefit of open source for me is that it’s another way to share the work that goes into Kinopio.

I've been following this project for a while - very excited to see this and even more excited that it is Vue!
pketh · 2 years ago
I’m a big vue fan, it’s a great oss success story and feels good not to use any facebook tech

I love Kinopio and I really appreciate being able to look around the code and perhaps even help make it better. Hopefully, this will spur innovations and new updates.

I’m looking forward to it too
