Maybe district heating will start make sense, even given the low efficiency due to low temperature gradient.

It’s definitely an experience to see the food you got thrown away and be given an apple and some bread instead.

Many kids would opt to bring in a pack of ramen, crush it up, add the seasoning and eat it dry instead. Many (myself included) just wouldn’t eat to avoid the humiliation.

But, hey, at least we had that most expensive high school football stadium in the world for a time!

Growing up, my school couldn't afford paper for math worksheets while building the most expensive high school football stadium. There are definitely some priorities in Texas.

But why use tape storage in this day and age?

Backups or satellite imagery is my guess.

I know it’s somewhat unpopular because of many things are labeled with insignificant quantities or are treated as a fact of life, but Prop 65 has to be my favorite ballot proposition.

I would rather know what potentially harmful substances are in something and decide if it’s acceptable than not be told at all.

On one hand this could happen to anyone so it's unfair to pin it on Cruise. OTOH the victim will sue no matter what so I guess this is what insurance is for. There's nothing to learn from this.

I’m not convinced a human driver wouldn’t notice running over something and the additional friction from dragging somebody over a distance.

Texting and driving ought to be treated similarly to a felony DUI.

I have been very happy with Charles Schwab. They offer an “Investor Checking” account which comes with a brokerage account also (you don’t have to use the brokerage account if you don’t want to).

Good mobile app, website, and pays a little interest as well as covers ATM fees.

+1 for Schwab. An ATM in a foreign country ate my debit card. One call, which was connected to a real human in less than a minute, and they overnighted a new card to my hotel.
