$599, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB, *No* Touch ID

$699, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB, Touch ID

Honestly pretty fantastic product and price.

This is clearly targeted towards education but I think I will happily replace by MacBook Air M1 with this :)

He’s a Chinese guy in the US. He thinks in terms of large monoliths. The nuance of 40 different cultures on a small continent might be lost on him.

That’s OK.

We all have some approximation of reality in our brains which is necessarily shaped by our life experiences.

His wife is Austrian though, I would have hoped that adds a bit to his perspective.

Really? 16 weeks of salary, or 4 months of pay. In my country, you get 3 months of pay as standard when you're fired from your job. Doesn't seem that great to me to be honest.

Do you earn SF salaries in your country?

It seems they also update the base memory on MacBook Air:

> MacBook Air: The World’s Most Popular Laptop Now Starts at 16GB

> MacBook Air is the world’s most popular laptop, and with Apple Intelligence, it’s even better. Now, models with M2 and M3 double the starting memory to 16GB, while keeping the starting price at just $999 — a terrific value for the world’s best-selling laptop.

Love the comments under the post :) For me it means no more notifications in Teams, as our organisation policy blocks all the useful workflow features.

How hard is it to export all of the comments someone has written on HN? I have been thinking about converting my HN comment history into something like a blog. Each entry would show the title of the submission, link if applicable, and the comment and link to comment thread.

Maybe you could provide that service for a small fee.

The Hacker News BigQuery data makes this quite easy:

select * from `bigquery-public-data.hacker_news.full` where `by` = 'ilaksh' and type = 'comment' order by timestamp desc

EDIT: seems this is out of date

It's a little bit more than a hobby for this guy...

True! But it certainly started out as a hobby and still has that feel to it.
