I’ve been a Fastmail user for years, having left Gmail. It works great and have nothing be but praise for them. I use my own domain with them so if I decide to leave it’s not an issue worrying about updating people with my new email.

Fastmail is kind of a weird service. If you stop paying they release your email for someone else to take over. Pretty unacceptable this day and age.

Do we have examples of unions in high-paying jobs? Even if so, with the market cooling off it would be a hard sell

The most relevant are dockworkers, especially since they recently negotiated against AI and automation. They are also highly paid

I really hate all of these executives trying to shove AI our throats.

Instead of rewarding our efficiency using AI with maybe a 3-4 day work week, they’ll just lay us off instead

I'm not sure we should ban TikTok. I am sure we should pass proper privacy legislation, but lack the will to do so.
onlyhumans · 8 months ago
I don’t think anyone is really concerned with privacy, tho it is piled on as a reason to ban. The real issue is our adversary controlling the content the masses in the US see can sway opinions via propaganda

I worked on the GPay flutter rewrite and our standard for accessibility was higher than almost any other app I've seen, and was a significant amount of effort spent on that. What accessibility shortcomings does flutter have?

Google pay was never able to fix the pre-compiled animation rendering issue on iOS where the first transition or animation is always janky and then it gets cached and no longer has jank.

That is quite a non-starter imo

Or I could get Kia with 7 year 150 Mm warranty. For even cheaper than the Toyota... Not ofc, covering everything, but enough...

That is lot to save on fuel and maintenance... Which I would estimate to be around 500 a year for maintenance...

Kia’s also get stolen and broken into because how easy they are to steal

I know it is inevitable, but I'm dreading the day when 100% of devices have fast broadband-level connectivity everywhere on the planet and there's truly nowhere you can go to just disconnect. Already in the last few years with satellite internet getting affordable you see people in remote RV camps or backcountry hikes or on boats in the middle of the ocean texting and video calling away, streaming the latest news and catching up on work emails. It's just going to keep getting worse.

I’m not looking forward to cellular connected IoT devices. Like my tv watching me and I can’t just turn off its lte connection

A few days later, seems apple has begun locking down iMessage further
onlyhumans · 2 years ago
This is good. This iMessage back door would have allowed spoofing of phone numbers, hijacking sms from non iMessage users, and lots of spam
