Stripe is a pain in the ass as a buyer, so I really hope they won't be able to acquire competitors and become a de facto monopoly.

For example, when you're traveling abroad and can't buy a service online with your card, you can be 95% sure that Stripe is the payment processor.

Maybe true but I’ve never had a worse experience than I have with PayPal, truly an awful company

In my recent explorations [1] I noticed it got really stuck on the first thing I said in the chat, obsessively returning to it as a lens through which every new message had to be interpreted. Starting new sessions was very useful to get a fresh perspective. Like a human, an AI that works on a writing piece with you is too close to the work to see any flaw.

Interesting I’ve noticed the same behavior with Gemini 3.0 but not with Claude, and Gemini 2.5 did not have this behavior. I wonder what tuning is optimising for here.

> That's what a prediction IS. If I waited until the feature had proven itself it wouldn't be much of a prediction.

No, that's merely guessing mate. Predictions are, at least in modern meaning, based on at least some data and some extrapolation model that more or less reliably predicts the development of your known dataset into future (uknown) values. I don't see you presenting either in your post, so that's not predicting, that's in the best of cases guessing, and in the worst of cases irresponsible distribution of Anthropic's propaganda.

They didn't make a point, they asked a question. Sometimes people do still ask questions because they're interested in the answer.

It was clearly rhetorical

The sheer amount of copium in this thread is illuminating, it’s fascinating the lengths people will go to downplaying advancements like this when their egos/livelihoods are threatened - pretty natural though I suppose.

To be fair though the author of 2027 has been prescient in his previous predictions

How exactly is this irresponsible? Are you proclaiming that any discussion of "machine consciousness" is axiomatically misleading?
okthrowman283 · a year ago
It’s becoming clear that this issue is going to become one of the most divisive in history.

Apparently a large number of people outright dismiss even the possibility of “machine sentience”. It seems to trigger some pretty visceral reactions.

Never mind the fact we can’t even define sentience/consciousness to begin with. We have no idea why or how it arises - yet we’re very quick to make strong claims about it.

Dead Comment
