I read this and immediately thought of the scene in gladiator where Maximus efficiently annihilates all his combatants and crowd is not enthused. He yells:

“are you not entertained”

Apple is crushing it. If you’re in tech look around you. Phone, watch, laptop, headphone. All miles ahead of any other device. Even the thing you could strap on to your face is a leap. And yet we yawn.

Look studio gibli images. Wow. Apple has lost it.

Currently consumer AI is a toy. When it becomes a utility Apple has a track record of success. The future of AI is decidedly on device.

We’ve effectively hacked status or update meetings by doing them asynchronously but voice. People monologuing about their issue is fine when you can listen to it at 1.5X or go back to it. Folks thread responses.

Very cool concept. It’d be helpful if there was videos of it working or some details on the process you made to build it. Or even why you did.

My end goal is to make glasses that can do a real-time AI translation, showing up as subtitles under people's faces. So that I can move countries without having to worry about not understanding anybody.

Industrial use case safety googles. Not very exciting.

The point isn’t that high performers want to wfh and low performers want to rto. The point is that for the high performers who want to wfh, an rto mandate will make them consider other options.

The golden handcuffs at Amazon for top performers is really strong. I’ve heard SWE making $750K (with options) after 24 months of proving yourself.

That’s an $125K bonus every 120 days. Or $1000 a day to go into the office. lol

I read about an Amazon SWE that was trying do as little as possible to not get fired or just get a severance. I wonder if this is the most effective way to weed out all those.

With 300K employees they likely have thousands of zombie wfh employees.
