Sadists and psychopaths seem to have taken over this experiment.

I've still to see a site where Firefox is not supported. uBlock origin still works well with Firefox.

When I start having issues with those, I'll start looking for a replacement. Hopefully Ladybird Browser will be out by then.

Those actually feel spammy too; e.g. seeing "official" or "download" in a name has always triggered a suspicion, because normally there's no need to specially say your site is "official" or "download" besides to mislead.

Then again, I may be biased due to always remembering PuTTY's official page being someone's personal site hosted on a .org.uk server.

There is actually a mirror at https://www.puttyssh.org/

I also noticed https://getputty.org is as well.

Somehow, these new long TLDs just feel spammy and "fake" and I usually ignore them when they show up in search results. Unfortunately the .com, .net and .org are already taken.

I agree, there's some good alternatives available too of about the same length (if you include name + TLD):

    puttyclient.com
    puttyofficial.com
    puttytools.com
    puttydownloads.com
    downloadputty.org

My feedback: there's more to pixel art than just reducing the resolution of an image. If you look at art like that found in Pokemon Emerald intro[0], the artists really squeezed every ounce they could from the palette available and worked with the constraints to make very beautiful artwork.

Here's an example I worked with: Original image: https://i.imgur.com/9nbqLCV.jpeg phototopixel.art: https://i.imgur.com/99qRwcy.png

More what I was probably looking for: https://i.imgur.com/oqSNNDt.jpeg

I generated this image above using ChatGPT by giving it the original image above and this prompt: "Convert this to pixel art, as if it had been made for the gameboy advance."

Why would someone go to college and then abandon their degree to learn a trade?

The whole point of college is to get a desk job and to avoid manual labor.

Plumbers have to literally scoop poop out with their hands once in a while.

> Why would someone go to college and then abandon their degree to learn a trade?

Because they can't find a job in the area they studied.

Society rewards you if you can give it what it needs, and I guess one of the things society wants right now is Chipotle.

One aspect of college is that it's supposed to teach you how to be a better thinker. One could make the argument that someone who graduated through college should have developed the critical thinking skills required to teach themselves another skill that IS in demand.

What do you tell new grads who can't find a job to do? Learn plumbing, heating/AC, or electrical work? Start a small business?

I feel like this is proof AI has passed some emotional Turing test. What are the long term implications of individuals turning away from each other for support and turning towards AI to fulfill emotional needs?
