Why is the US so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to technology? State IDs/Driving Licenses already exist. These should have chips on them that could be used for authentication.

My first thought was also, there is a self selection here. If you are a AAA member, that puts you in a risk averse/more cautious group anyway. So some in-built bias.
Anyone know how hard this would be to do in python?
