That’s a lot. I keep forgetting how many idiots are in the world.

Some of those are probably intentional suicide attempts. What’s the maximum number of tablets for one purchase? Sweden has it regulated down to 14, because that’s just enough to not cause permanent damage in a depressed teenager.

My understanding is it isn’t so much people being idiots but that acetaminophen is in many products making it easy to overdose on when you are sick.

But how many cases of poisoning occur each year?

I'm seeing misleading advertising with scummy/dark patterns, spam, failure to disclose important information, plus all the classic stuff like money laundering and bank fraud.

Could be just the cost of doing business, if that business' motto is "you either fuck someone over, or get fucked" or at least "you gotta hustle to survive".

I'm so tired of all those businesses out there.

One thing I don’t understand is why people even do business with many of these scummy financial companies when credit unions exist.

Seems like nothing more than the cost of doing business.

Do you honestly think defrauding your customers out of billions is the cost of doing business?

I know nothing.

But this is an interesting acquisition. Capital One strikes me as a pretty well run org.

Why would they want Discover, who notoriously targets the low end of credit card custom? My guess is that this gives them the ability to increase margins by owning the entire payment layer all the way through distribution. If they slash the fees charged to merchants, this could make them quite a powerhouse.

Well run? Haven’t they had lots of legal issues over the years?

I’m excited about lower prices from Chinese brands. The hikes in car prices in the US over the last decade or so have priced me out of new cars entirely, and I just about get sick even looking at used car prices these days. Need some price pressure on that crap.

I’m pretty happy about being able to live in a place where we rarely need to drive. We have a car but basically just use it for grocery shopping. I dread the day it dies as my partner will want to get a new car and our options are going to suck.

I am hopeful China’s EV, battery, and renewables manufacturing machine steamrolls the world. Developed world fossil fuel and legacy auto will try to slow down the transition, so only overwhelming force solves for it.

Current US admin only has 3.6 years left, ~2M voters 55+ age out every year, etc. Maintain momentum, be ready to spin up faster after regime change.

I have zero interest in an any car from an American company and by far the most exciting cars I have seen in recent years come from Chinese companies.

What? How? It's the exact same experience, but without needing to run a heavy electron app.

These are...identical apps. That's the point of packaging with electron.

mulderc · 4 months ago
Because it is now a browser tab instead of a stand alone app. Running things in the browser is even worse that electron imho.

I just pin it in my browser now. I don't really get anything out of using the app version.
mulderc · 4 months ago
That is an even worse experience IMHO.
