There are security concerns having sites outside of America. I prefer keeping them only within my home country.

The USA has shown, over the last 12 months, what a security-conscious country it is. The Defense Secretary's almost fanantical regard for messaging security should be held up as an object lesson for all future generations.

What specifically do you disagree with? I’ve explained it three different times now and can’t delete my original comment so please let me know

This research shows physicians harmed kids recommending they avoid allergens like peanuts, is that something we should ignore because all the benefits of science are “worth it”?

Science is amazing not because it’s always right, but because it (should) strive to always do better next time

All you're fucking doing is saying "Don't save a million people of 1 person is going to be harmed" OR the utterly trite point of "wouldn't it be great if everything was magical and no one was harmed by anything ever".

I clearly misspoke and people are misunderstanding my point, which is only that “hurting people is worth it” is a horrible argument and shouldn’t be a valuable thing, we can and should save the 20 kids without causing harm to the 2

doing nothing is better than something if that something might hurt people without understanding how and why

monkey_monkey · 2 months ago
People are misunderstanding your point because you are doing a terrible job of explaining it.

Not to confuse: peanuts cannot directly be eaten because of risk of choke, as infants cannot chew them. The advice is to add as ingredient, as e.g. peanut butter.
monkey_monkey · 2 months ago
Unfortunately everyone will ignore this comment and continue to respond as if peanuts were advised against because of allergy risk.

Elon was quite clear the he bought Twitter to make it a free speech forum where you could openly discuss things, even from non establishment standpoints.

And that's what it's become.

> And that's what it's become.

Hilariously incorrect.

A better analogy: imagine if someone built a public water fountain, then chess.com set up next to it selling the exact same water for $100/year while limiting the public fountain to 1 cup per day through lobbying. Then they sponsored all the popular hydration influencers to only drink their bottled water on camera.

> Cause you can just go to a bar and get it for free.

Not at the same convenience, can you ;) So they are selling convenience. Chess.com isn't selling convenience - both platforms are websites you access identically. They're not offering portability or solving a distribution problem. They're artificially limiting a digital service that costs them essentially nothing to provide unlimited access to.

How, specifically, are chess.com limiting anyone using lichess?

Well, the main thing I learned in such debates is, you are free to believe what you want

I don't feel responsible for grounding the facts you somehow believe in.

But in another mood, I might have shared links to certain Telegram groups, or connect you with some people I know personally. They would be eager to enlighten you, if you are in for that.

monkey_monkey · 3 months ago
What does this even mean?

Do you think the earth is flat? Who the fuck cares about Telegram groups in this context?

They stood for free speech; but judging by the downvotes here, the left didn't care about their free speech. If it did, my post above wouldn't be at -4, while the inflammatory answer above is still in the black.

The left instead rationalized it under "free speech is not freedom from consequences", called them Nazis, fascists, bigots, homophobes, misogynists, you'd need a thesaurus. Every slur in the thesaurus, they used. When your opponent plays dirty, actively seeks to get you fired from your job, and your figureheads get killed (Kirk) or nearly killed (Trump), why uphold the rules?

EDIT: > Admit that your position is an unprincipled one and based on feelings rather than thought.

Admit that the right has realized that neither side gives a damn about principles; but the left has no right to claim to be principled after 2020.

Ah ok, so only your right to free speech is important and no one is allowed to react negatively to it and have their own free speech. Thanks for making that clear.
