Just get a kobo instead. The price difference between with ads and a new kobo is minimal. Not worth the Amazon headache with a locked down device.

I love my Libra 2 reader, but I only use it to read epub files from questionable websites. I would pay for books if they were available as DRM-free epubs.

Too little too late, already ditched the whole ecosystem after so many years and devices.

The only previous option was not paying for books. This change at least creates the potential for a path to pay for books, if publishers accept it.

This is a step in the right direction. Now publishers need to take it up.

DRM-free is a precondition for me buying digital books personally. Practically no major digital bookstore offers it.

The ability to sideload on Android is the main reason I've never bought an iPhone. This is a terrible move from Google.

It is alarming for credit card companies to take on a politically censorious role that supersedes legal activity. This really kicked off in 2021 when MasterCard started imposing restrictive rules on sex sites like OnlyFans. The ACLU has a campaign against it: https://www.aclu.org/news/lgbtq-rights/how-mastercards-new-p...

This headline is a lie. It's not a matter of being "too expensive for customers", it's a matter of undesirable profit margin for the company.

The real truth is that strong privacy laws would cause economic harm to flagship corporations. That would have a ripple effect on the economy as those corporations are responsible for thousands of high-paying jobs. The elected representatives know that people care more about the economy (specifically what's in their wallets) than about privacy.

ultimately we have to overthrow capitalism via a revolutionary workers party.
misterbishop commented on Replacing Liquid Metal on an Asus Zephyrus G15's CPU   flemesre.github.io/posts/... · Posted by u/geomaturge

Excellent write up! I also have a G15 (GA503RM), and the post made me wonder if I ought to be doing this as well. The temperature improvement makes a strong case. How much of a danger is the (nearly) escaping liquid metal on the CPU? Is this is something that could be frying a lot of Zepheri if it's not addressed?
