The status page is green, but there are outages reported: https://downdetector.com/status/google-cloud/

It's updated now, shows the impact to console, dataproc, GCS, IAM and Identity Platform: https://status.cloud.google.com/incidents/ow5i3PPK96RduMcb1S...

Not just GCP, most of Googles services are out of action

I'm on a meet, in cal, editing a dozen docs, in GCP, pushing commits and launching containers; it's not clear yet what exactly is going on but it's certainly intermittent and sparse, at least so far

Same here. Even the page to submit support requests is down.

Cloud console does nothing.

They should host their support services on AWS and vice-versa.

I just logged into several of my GCP accts, everything popped up, multiple home regions.. I wonder what % of folks are feeling this right now.

I was just quoting Pollan yesterday, which is the quote right at the top of the article.

"Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."

Succinct, doesn't alienate anyone, or make a lot of rules, or shame you for doing the wrong thing. Don't complicate food.

I own a fresh organic produce delivery outfit in the Seattle region, and we basically run our operations off what he explains in more words. The more steps involved between the soil and your mouth, the less "food" it is. It might not kill you, but it also won't help you.

Gosh, I'm so myopic here. I'm mostly talking about US based systems.

But, of course, LLMs are affecting the whole world.

Yeah, I'd love to hear more about how other countries are affected by this tool. For Finland, I'd imagine that the feedback loop is the voters, but that's a bit too long and the incentives and desires of the voting public get a bit too condensed into a few choice to matter [0].

What are you seeing out there as to how students feel about LLMs?

[0] funnily enough, like how the nodes in the neural net of an LLM get too saturated if they don't have enough parameters.

Huh, parameters as LLM bandwidth.

Now there are more avenues for Samsung to shove bloatware down our throats. I have a modestly high-end home theater and it is utterly maddening waiting for devices to “boot” and “handshake”. And after the wait, I’m presented with another “User Agreement” to sign that insists on shoveling ads down my throat and harvesting data.

How much do you have to pay for a quick boot, no ads, and a private movie or music experience? Just like every retailer has embraced usury with their credit card programs, every technology company has decided they are in the data harvesting business. I’m so over it.
