Prices are a great incentive.

In Germany, 1 kWh of electricity costs roughly 3x as much as 1 kWh of gas. That doesn't make heat pumps very attractive. Historically the differences were even worse.

Relying on people individually making choices that are better for the environment at a disadvantage for themselves is not going to work.

germany is an excellent example of an industrial powerhouse imploding their country by adopting the stupidest power strategy possible. Just utterly incomprehensible.

Does anybody know any good alternative to Name Cheap? It seems like they keep raising prices on all the domains. Website is very sluggish, especially for finding domains quickly.

cloudflare is the cheapest - they do it at cost.

Yeah I concur.

As an early adopter I first got forced off my grandfather plan to the regular one(at least I got a T-shirt). Now I have a limited number of searches that I have to keep track of and this has made me only use Kagi if necessary. This has dropped my number of searches significantly but at the end of the year I’m still being charged for renewing my plan even though I haven’t used a quarter of my allotted searches.

I don’t care about LLMs so this brings nothing of value to me. Give me an email account or some backup storage and open source office suite and I would be willing to pay and pay more.

I’m seriously considering not re-newing my subscription for the first time in ages.

How do you use kagi and not know the basic plan has unlimited searches and has had it for ages?

From the president of the united states? Especially knowing that controlling tariffs and such are easily argued to be in his core powers, in the current setting, what authority would they possibly have to do something on this?

they can reverse the options trades that look like they had insider info. This is a thing that the SEC does.

love KOReader, recently jailbroke my kindle oasis with the new winterbreak exploit and installed it. The ability to connect via wifi to calibre is amazing.

What do you think about doing it with a sober friend to control you? I guess you could be alone in a room and they monitor you if you need help.

Also micro-dose. It's funny the movie Jobs 2013 it shows him doing acid and he's in the field, I'm like "Oh if I do acid I can be like Steve Jobs" not serious but was wondering maybe... unlocks your brain somehow.

benzos end LSD trips, so if you are worried about a bad trip, just have a xanax with you when you do it and if you want out, take one and in 30 minutes you will be okay.

Not really the point.

Musk names his ships after the Culture, but the author was an avowed left-wing socialist who'd probably see Musk as our version of Veppers. He was... not a huge fan of billionaire oligarchs.

The culture as an aspirational goal is a good thing. It's a fantastic vision of the future. So I'm not sure why you're using it as a similar comparison to neuromancer.

my biggest fear from moving out of kindle is losing access to the store. they did a good job securing most of the authors and books.

what’s your source for books and how often it happens for the books you’re looking for to be unavailable?

Pretty common. See Musk’s love for Iain Banks’ Culture novels.

The culture is not libertarian. Anarcho socialism is the closest thing, but post scarcity, so not really applicable to anything in the present
