Off topic for this post. This may sound snarky, but I’m saying in all seriousness. HN needs more people to volunteer their time and effort for free to improve its UX, which has been terrible on mobile/tablets, really bad for accessibility, and so on. All this while retaining the core of HN’s simplicity on any web browser (without extensions or HN specific apps). I’ve been waiting for years to see some change, but now this logo change gives me hope.
The fact that it surprises many is telling, actually. Used to be much more common to have strong political opinion, back then y'know?
Also the guy already abandoned said wife and kids and literally went to space for the government, sounds like a strong selection biais
