I publish my notes [1] using Obsidian Publish [2], and find the experience really good. I'm able to customize almost every aspect I need to.
There's also Quartz [3] that is a good compatible alternative to Obsidian Publish.

Being a freelance myself for a while I've used dozen of well-known services to run my routines.
I've acknowledged that I don't need THAT many different tools & functions where I just getting lost.

Somebody has to pay to gather, store and present information in usable fashion in order for it to be of value. It doesn't just appear or self-assemble.
The alternative we face may be something like France: buyers pay in time, shoe leather and exclusion from opportunities what they would save in agent commissions.
From what I've seen it looks far more modern.
Crosstalk Solutions, MacTelecom Networks, and Lawrence Systems all do youtube videos on UI's gear and setup - may help give you an idea of the experience before you commit to kicking off your addiction.
