What footwear brands do you recommend?
mamoul · 5 months ago
Not OP, but look into Jim Green's barefoot line, Vivobarefoot, Vibrams, Xero shoes, etc. There are more and more brands adopting barefoot styles, includig Merril! I live in my Jim Green Barefoot Africna Rangers. I use them for every occasion besides working out. I use Vivobarefoot and Vibrams 5 Finger shoes for running.

Anthropic has been killing it. I subscribe to both chatgpt pro and claude, but I spend probably 90% of my time using Claude. I usually only go back to open ai when I want another model to evaluate or modify the results.

This makes me even less interested in buying a Tesla while he's in charge. Imagine what he can do with your Tesla, with all of its telemetry.

All I want is an analog watch that shades the face of the watch when I have calendar events coming up. That's it. No screen, no pings, no nothing. Just the ability to check my watch and see how long till my next appointment. Unfortunately, [this kickstarter watch](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1540240985/calendar-wat...) is now dead.

Check out the app Spectograph. It has a great watch face for WearOS that offers that same feature.

Reddit does two things really:

1. Link Discovery 2. Discussion

There are a few options for Link Discovery. I have a bunch of fora and sites hooked up to an rss reader (the old reader, since google shutdown reader) which does pretty well (although I'd like it to do a bit more). The link discovery thing is like the equivalent of having channels on your TV. You can stream any program (website) of a huge number but a channel gives you a reason to think about a specific one right now. I've been looking at https://pinboard.in/popular/, but it doesn't support rss which is a shame.

There's really nothing to compare with reddit for discussion of the links though (and that includes scoring and karma and responses etc). And a big part of that is because of network effects. Reddit is where the discussion is happening, because it's where the people are because it's where the discussion is happening. What's really awkward here is that some of the alternatives have ended up as seeding around communities that were too toxic for mainstream reddit. That toxicity will make it harder for them to grow.

I do find myself wondering what a system that connected my rss feed reader with global comments about webpages might look like.

I think this might be pretty close to what you're looking for. It's an RSS feed reader with a platform for discussions.

Is lebanon safe to remote work from for visible foreigners?

what can 1 USD buy in lebanon?

mamoul · 3 years ago
It's difficult to work remotely in Lebanon unless you have access to reliable electricity and a solid internet connection. Both of which are unfortunately scarce.
