> But the quality of MacBooks is just another level. I had 3 or 4 so far since 2010, and each of them held at least 5 years. Crazy good.

When I read things like this it really sounds like there is some reality distortion field in the mac world. How is that anywhere special? I'm running a thinkpad X1 as my 2 main laptops (it was my only work machine until 2 years ago) and I never felt the need to replace it. It gave me 8-10h battery life and the only issue I ever had was that 1.5 years ago the battery was reaching end of life and capacity started dropping very fast.

That was just a 70$ repair I could easily do myself.

My youngest daughter just inherited my mother's x220 (?) (she has been running Linux) that I got for my mother in 2011 or 2012. That never received any work and still works fine except that I didn't change the battery so you have to run it of ac power.

My older daughter and my mother both just got some used thinkpads that are >3years old and don't have any issues either.

So from my experience a 5 year lifetime for a macbook is really nothing special and definitely not "crazy good".

I don't understand the claim. Since 2012 I have also.owned only Lenovo laptops and I've changed it only for a more performing one every 5/6 years, but they are still working flawlessly.

Looks like they're still only available in "Huge" and "comically oversized". I guess I can keep buying Pixel 4s until new ones (req for battery) are no longer available.

"They claim impressive reductions in hallucinations. In my own usage I’ve not spotted a single hallucination yet, but that’s been true for me for Claude 4 and o3 recently as well—hallucination is so much less of a problem with this year’s models."

This has me so confused, Claude 4 (Sonnet and Opus) hallucinates daily for me, on both simple and hard things. And this is for small isolated questions at that.

I believe it depends in inputs. For me, Claude 4 has consistently generated hallucinations, especially was pretty confident in generating invalid JSONs, for instance Grafana Dashboards, which were full of syntactic errors.

Too many typos

isnky -> is my Inam -> I am In -> I?

Funnily, the first two autocorrected when I typed then in and I genuinely didn't know what isnky was supposed to mean.

On topic though, if no one else can read it it's like writing in your own local notes files.

Sorry for typos. The keyboard I am using (Helio on Android) hasn't corrected the typo and I was too fast with the submission.

I already lost count how many UI frameworks are in windows. It looks like complete chaos and mess.

I really wonder what they expect from open-sourcing it. Just to pretend how open they are? Or is there any real benefit to developers who target windows?

Just go for MFC FTW, it is in feature freeze but I will last probably for the next 20 years yet.

I still use their access points because it's hard to get anything else as good for the same kind of price, but they burned me killing the development on EdgeRouter.

So I've gone elsewhere for cameras, switching and routing.

This release is a nice point in their favour though but I can't see myself going back all in on Ubiquiti.

I moved the firmware if my EdgeRouter X SFP to OpenWRT, since it has been years from their last security update and recently the WebUI tripped and broke.

The router works still amazingly fine, only their software has some bugs.
